The location is beautiful, having visited the Tasting rooms earlier in the year decided to book rooms and dining at the Flint Barn. The rooms are well appointed but very small. We were disappointed by the food in the dining room for the price, but the main issue was the temperature which read 25 degrees with an open kitchen which made it uncomfortable. We won’t be returning to the dining room but will definitely return to the tasting room. The lounge was very comfortable and a nice place to relax after dinner.

This is a review for the Rathfinny wine tour and tasting and the restaurant, which we went to afterwards. The whole experience was exceptional. Our guide, Sarah, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Rathfinny and winemaking and we really enjoyed our tour and tasting. We visited the restaurant afterwards and this was an unexpected highlight. Exceptional food, lovely service and beautiful views. Would definitely visit again.

Dramatic setting, disappointing food. Great views and a dramatic location. We saw a bird of prey hovering over the downs, and several heavy showers passed across as we ate. I was in a group of 12. ordered the menu for two, as did another couple. Others ordered from the menu. We didn’t recieve all the dishes on the menu for two. A number of dishes turned up, including a fish dish, which was delicious. Perhaps it’s confusing for the staff to manage so many separate little dishes and paired set menus at once, it is also confusing for the customers. With perhaps 30 covers, the tasting menu will probably make more for the restaurant than a three course meal, but I found it frustrating to dip into so many plates. Two bottles of Muscadet Sevre et Maine were ordered, but one was changed for a different white. I found it disappointing and flavourless, and wondered at the restaurant’s choices for the wine list. The house champagne is crisp and very dry. A number of reviewers have said they preferred the previous menu. I would prefer to have a showpiece main course rather than a load of starters. The staff were attentive and helpful. Keep an eye on the weather and have a nice sandwich and a glass of Prosecco on the downs instead.

We had such a disappointing visit. Stayed at the Flint Barns. The young waiting staff were very pleasant but the overall management/front of house were terrible. Sadly Rathfinny lacks any charm/friendliness. We felt like an inconvenience staying there. With so many amazing vineyards in England. I would not recommend here.

I had a very nice stay there this week. It arguably got the best situ of any winery in the UK and it was particularly nice with the autumnal leaves on the vines. The staff were lovely, the barn is lovely place to stay in with a nice log burner in the lounge area and the meals were very good. I'd highly recommend.

The set meal portion size was miserly. The soup was no more than a few spoonfuls although good. The main was a joke... a small starter for any other restaurant ... tiny portion... and excessively salty. The the best part was dessert as the custard was more volume than the rest put together. The discrimination for Vegans is immense... there is no set menu for you ... well actually there is.. one choice of starter main and dessert.... that is it and at £20 more than the other menu it is a rip off and a real smack in the face to lactose intolerant people. The wine was really good . The room was supposed to be a superior one ...but the noise from other rooms was excessive and the furnishings as basic as they can get. No tv... the room was cold and a little oil radiator supplied . Tiny bathroom that had a shower that only thin people could access. Matress was comfy but overall we felt that the food choice was zero... the amount miserly and value for money in early March not good. Coupled with that they tried to double charge the meal and wine and we left with negativity all round. The waitress serving and the breakfast was excellent .but limited. We would not go there again... but if you are not Vegan or lactose intolerant or you don't choose the set menu it may all be very different .

We visited yesterday for a tour and wine tasting. We had dinner and stayed overnight in the Flint Barns, with breakfast the next morning. It was fantastic, a beautiful place. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely passionate. All the staff were extremely kind and helpful, our food was delicious and our room beautiful and comfortable. A gorgeous setting - would highly recommend.

Spent a night at the hotel after a wine tasting experience. Nice friendly check in, and we were off to our room, 'Camp Hill'. The room was beautifully presented, nice furnishing, drinks making facilities, and a lovely walk in shower. Dinner and breakfast at the hotel were great, friendly staff really made our short break enjoyable. Our only issues were the fire panel located near the room going off in the middle of the night (luckily another guest was familiar with the panel and knew how to turn it off) . When mentioned at check out, the staff are well aware, and this wasn't the first occurrence. The proximity of Camp Hill to the front door also meant the guests arriving late night/early morning were easily heard. We'd definitely stay again but would request a different room.

Nice place but the rooms are so small - I can’t even quite believe it. There’s about enough space to walk around the bed if only one person but if two people staying then you can’t open the toilet door in case you hit or block the other person. Same goes for all really. Bad toiletries being only a multi wash on offer. If you want to use hairdryer then you have to unplug the kettle. Just a shame they’ve clearly tried to pack too many rooms in so everything so incredibly tight. I wouldn’t stay again

Wonderful location and views down to the Cuckmere Valley. Only visited for evening meal, but had a lovely informal time in the Flint Barn restaurant. Booked the tasting room, but had to cancel last minute, so worried we might miss out by transferring to the barn. But the head chef is the same across both venues, so it worked out well.. Very competent cooking and nice wine, with reasonable set menu price . Very welcoming staff.
