The Poundland on Montague street in Worthing is closing down soon, the store is near empty as it is now, prices of all there stocks are being slashed down seriously, I was still there yesterday 1st December 2025.
Its getting much quieter and the cold refrigerated section was absolutely empty of goods to purchase. Looked like it was on skeleton staff about 4 plus strangly a security guard on the door. The whole business model is having trouble and was stating on the news,that 63 branches were closing their doors for good. Some were sold for £1 which seems like a joke. But there probably is a caviat it you have a certain amount of money in the bank to keep the shop running. As this is normally the norm. So it now looks like it could be the end of even £1 shops as most things are online and being delivered.
Staff are nice..but it's hit and miss with stock one week they'll have something then out of stock for the rest of the month Very long queues especially on weekends even for self checkouts
Always made to feel like a shoplifter in here, I'm not!!!. Also the self checkout tills are always backed up and only one till open. The amount of times I've walked in and picked up stuff to buy to only get to the tills and see a 20min wait to check out. I just put the stuff down and walk out, seen many others do this, sort the tills out!
Everything you need under 1 roof and cheap too.
Great prices, from small things to big things… prices that you can afford… variety of different stuff… love it
A very busy shop, but with so much choice of products its hardly a surprise. Great range of so many things. And good for a bargain.
Great store to buy snacks and drink.
A truly awful shopping experience at this Poundland. I noticed there were very few staff so it may be poor management decisions that meant the shop was dirty, lacked stock and had huge queues to be served by only one cashier, who I felt sorry for as she was clearly overwhelmed. I really wouldn't shop at this store again.
