a great place to visit especially with all the autumn colours, in spite of the dreary rainy weather

Lovely place to visit. Friendly volunteers. Tasty food in the pretty cafe (see picture for cafe) with an expansive view. Lovely play park and woodland walks. Didn’t have time for the arboretum this time but I’ll visit this next time.

I visited Gelli Aur with my sister and our two dogs because I knew that it had recently been reopened. The grounds are beautiful as you drive up to the house, but as there is still work being carried out to restore the house there is no entry to it or part of the grounds. There is parking, toilets and a cute little dog friendly cafe selling food and drinks at reasonable prices. Friendly staff, parking charge is a voluntary donation of £2 to help towards the restoration of the grounds etc. This place is so peaceful and beautiful and will be a haven for people to visit once it's completed.

Lovely green parkland and a beautiful cafe. The glass conservatory allows you to take in the views while enjoying a lovely drink and a bite to eat whatever the weather! As a family of 7, it was very accommodating, with great facilities for the baby (small details include toys and books)

Lovely log fire within the conservatory. Fantastic freshly cooked mince pies with brandy butter and cream and a wonderful cup of tea. Pleasant and friendly service. Nice bird feeder visible from within the conservatory but unfortunately no deer. Car park charge of £2.50 for 4 hours.

Beautiful arboretum. Some fabulous trees and so well looked after. The park part which is free I didn't visit. Cafe is dog friendly with treats on hand, with some lovely looking bome made cakes for humans. Friendly staff who are happy to help. I will visit again, I'm sure!

After coming to the area for 20 years to visit Aberglasney this was my first visit to Gelli Aur. I had no idea it was there, it really is Carmarthenshire's best kept secret. The house and park have huge potential, with substantial funding this would be a major visitor attraction. As it stands the house is closed, proper signage and information is desperately needed and everything does feel a little run down and in need of attention. But there are plenty of positives, the Arboretum is magnificent, the views wonderful, nice walks and friendly staff in the cafe. Plus it's free to visit, just car parking to pay for. Well worth supporting this place.
