The Duke on the Test is such a lovely place, peaceful and cozy, the room was clean and restful and the food was lovely, we had a delicious dinner and breakfast, there's a spacious dining room and lots of other areas to sit including a cozy snug. The staff were friendly helpful and kind. We highly recommend eating and staying here or just enjoying the atmosphere with a drink, it's set in a beautiful area is next to the river and we had a lovely stroll in the morning, absolutely loved The Duke on the Test.

We went to meet family for a lunchtime meet up. The restaurant is smart, with a casual vibe and a traditional look. The service is good and the menu is tight but varied. Food is generally well presented and served although our risotto wasn't as hot as it should be. Slow braised beef and fresh trout were excellent and the pie of the day beef with red wine was generous and yummy. Desserts were good and very well designed with depths of flavour and textures.

Overall, a lovely room that was very clean and comfortable and excellent value for money. My only complaint was the lack of beverage choices in the room. Possibly an oversight? There was only a tea selection. (No coffee, or hot chocolate). Service was great. Bar and dining area was immaculate and cozy.

Good location looks nice. Bar and restaurant staff are lovely. Food is average, avoid the pie, steak ok but over priced. Cleaning staff scream and shout all morning from 0600 with no regard to guests, really poor. Walls and ceilings are wafer thin. The rooms are hot and the outside smells strongly of sewage, so you can be hot or less than fragrant. Looks much more than it is - which is just ok. Bar and restaurant staff genuinely lovely but they canβt make up for the rest. I would avoid.

A walk along the Test rounded off by a proper hearty Sunday roast at The Duke. Doesn't get much better than that! Excellent company with tasty, plentiful and well presented food and very good local beers (I would recommend the Duke) plus a good selection of wines. Three of us had the vegan roast option plus one roast beef, all perfect and packed with flavour. Staff engaging and attentive and really contributed to the whole experience. We felt valued despite a very busy pub. Fair to say we really enjoyed our visit and will be back. Thank you!

Wanted to visit for a while as it looked like a nice place. Dropped in for a drink and something to eat. Didn't book but were looked after very quickly. Our meals arrived very quickly too and were very nice. The staff lovely and friendly and attentive. Love the new look of the pub. Very cosy with a nice atmosphere. Will be back again. Had a lovely afternoon.

Really great pub, a bit up market but very worth it. Just had renovations done and it looks amazing, a lot of parking space available as well. Staff are friendly and are dressed accordingly. Great atmosphere and booking a table would be advisable. Pints are a bit pricey and not too sure on the food, food did look good coming out of the kitchen.

Came here for lunch with wife and mum. I must say the place looks amazing now since itβs been renovated. We had a good experience for our lunch, staff were really friendly, and food was in the most part pretty good. Only reason Iβm giving 4/5 stars is due to the following points; - steak was ordered medium rare, but it was more medium at best. I did tell my wife she shouldβve mentioned at time so I guess Iβm she has herself to blame for not voicing this to the staff. - chicken was on the slightly dry side Also some personal preferencesβ¦ - was surprised the artisan bread selection didnβt come with a butter - ordered hummus which was great. It says on menu it comes with bread, just surprised it doesnβt come with pita instead? (I appreciate thatβs a personal preference, but is what hummus is served with generally) I realise Iβm being slightly picky with my feedback, but itβs not a cheap meal by any stretch at the Duke. I think we paid about Β£120 which was for 3 mains, a soup starter, hummus and breads, and a bottle of wine. On the positive side, since the renovation, it does look a totally different place now.
