Visited today for my sister’s birthday breakfast, and we had such a fantastic experience! There were six of us in total and we were served by Fern, who was absolutely exceptional from start to finish. Her service was friendly, attentive, and warm — she even surprised my sister with a little celebratory treat, which made the morning feel even more special. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and enjoyed by all of us. Overall, a truly wonderful visit. 10/10 — highly recommend!

Firstly be aware if you are taking your dog to stay in this hotel you will not see there is an extra charge of £25 on arrival you will only see this charge in the very small print after you have pressed the book button, it is not made clear on their web site or any pre booking details “ look very closely “ The dog friendly rooms a very small and the road is very noisy with single glazed sash windows. The bar is pleasant enough but the tables were sticky , I very rarely have order a steak from a pub menu as often they struggle to cook it correctly but I made the mistake of ordering one in Harpurs and yes the kitchen were unable to the steak rare to medium this ruined our meal. So overall not a great visit.

Breakfast Review: We’re local to Melbourne, but today was our first time having breakfast at Harpur’s — and it definitely won’t be our last! From the moment we arrived, the service was attentive and friendly, making us feel instantly welcome. We visited with our toddler, and the staff couldn’t have been more accommodating — warm, patient, and genuinely kind, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Our breakfasts were absolutely delicious. It was also great to see that they offer a children’s menu, making it an easy and relaxed choice for families. We usually enjoy a weekend family breakfast somewhere local, and after today’s visit, Harpur’s will definitely be a new regular spot for us!

Just there for Sunday lunch. We found the lunch to be tasty. The veg are fresh not frozen and even just this makes a big difference to the microwave fare that is now so common. The meats were perfectly cooked and tender. Cheesecake dessert was superb. Thoroughly enjoyable.

When here for Valentine’s Day payed £70 for a 4 course meal which was more like a two course meal with the amount of food in each portion. Booked in for 7pm ordered our food at 7:20pm didn’t even get the starter till 8:20pm then waited another hour to get the main and finally received our dessert at 9:50pm. So after waiting all that time for the food you would expect it to be nice was not horrible worst meal out ever don’t go here unless you like to overpay for tiny portions. Really ruined our day and it would have cost even more if they didn’t knock the money off for the drinks we had whilst waiting but it just doesn’t make up for this at that point. Who what’s to eat a main dinner at 9:30pm on a Tuesday.

After having to leave our Christmas lunch early due to having to rush our family member to hospital after falling ill at the table. We had asked for our £95 Christmas lunch to be wrapped up and sent home with the rest of the family. Dry piece of turkey, a ball of stuffing, 1 sausage and 3 roast potatoes. No vegetables, no gravy and no desserts were even sent home for us. Absolutely disgraceful, our Christmas ruined.
