The best Sunday roast we've had since I can't remember Pork was so flavourful with small super-crispy pieces of crackling. Beef purple rather than red in the middle. Wonderful roast carrots, potatoes and parsnips with slightly sharp red cabbage. Grast beer (Vale brewery Red Kite) and wines. We had a table by the fire with a view across the village green to the church. Service was friendly and efficient (in that order)

Really lovely pub, super cosy and very welcoming. Independently run, the owner was charming and could not do enough. Food was delicious with a capital D! I had the Brioche Benedict, eggs perfectly poached, a very thick slice of ham and covered with most delicious rich, creamy hollandaise. My companion opted for the fish and chips which was so good. Nice chunky portion of fish with a light crispy batter. It came with a curry sauce which was heaven to dip your chips in. Really good quality ingredients and a good chefs make for happy lunching! Oh yes, super dog friendly. Very highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed. We’ll be returning soon.

After buying our drinks, the landlady was very rude and abruptly told us there was no tables free. We chose to stand at the bar but was again, abruptly told that the bar was also booked out! We headed outside, with the drinks we had already paid for. We politely asked if the heaters outside could be switched on, but was informed that it wasn’t cold enough to turn the heaters on (At 5 degrees C in January 29th) Safe to say, the landlady isn’t overly accommodating and we won’t be returning! Unfortunate as it’s a lovely pub and we would love to use the pub more but every time we go there we are disappointed.

The best pub in Kingsclere by a country mile! Very cozy, delightfully warm, intimate, and the locals are alright too. If you're really lucky then the pub's dogs Harvey and Purdy come down later on to say hello.

We stopped off in this cute village looking for somewhere to get some lunch, and I'm so glad we found The Crown. We had sausage and mash and the market fish, both were made with top quality ingredients and were generous portions and great value for money. Really lovely staff. Definitely recommend!

Hi, we turned off the A34 to go home back to Oxford via some villages. Came back through Kingsclere, where we thought it'd be nice to stop for a pint and a packet of crisps, but it was getting near to tea time so we decided to eat there, we both had fish and chips and thoroughly enjoyed it. Nice welcoming staff, nice atmosphere, lovely food.

Excellent pub. Staff friendly and helpful. Food excellent. We all had the home made steak pie and it was yummy. The menu is basic pub food, not gastropub pretentious, and it's good stuff. One thing to watch out for ... no parking at pub, so need to use a nearby free car park. Would we go again? ... Very much yes
