   Couldn’t rate this place high enough. It’s a great price and worth every penny. Every detail is thought of. The location is great too with loads of things to do and lots of nearby pubs restaurants and take away all within walking distance. Everyone said how comfy the beds were we all slept well. There was a fabulous kitchen and spacious dining room and comfortable sitting room for all. The owners were super helpful and left a few essentials with a few luxuries to welcome us. If you are looking for somewhere for a perfect group gathering, this is the place.

   An exceptional house with everything you need for a great holiday and peaceful nights sleep. I have been organising a friends weekend every year for 14 years, hiring a beautiful house in an area we don't know and Portland House has been the first where everything works. It is immaculately decorated and clean. To balance this effusive review, the garden is smaller than it looks online and it's noisy outside as the A6 is right there but it's lovely and quiet indoors. Don't let that put you off Portland House has it all, kitchen fully stocked with good quality utensils, really comfy beds and even a wine cooler in the bar. We loved it!

   We stayed at Portland House earlier in 2024. It was okay, but aspects of the property perhaps need a little attention. The kitchen was well stocked with crockery, but was a little tired, as was much of the deco throughout the property. The garden was disproportionately small, and the lawn was full of weeds. The bbq (an advertised feature) was little more than a couple of pieces of floppy tin, suspended on some bricks. I'd also say the living space is on the small side, when compared to the number of bedrooms.

   Very old house. Beds very comfortable. Mirror in my bathroom too high and fixed to the wall, so could only see the top of my head.( 5' just).Heating came on every morning at 6am with a loud vroom and woke me up. It got very hot at times. Kitchen amazing and very well equipped. Two dishwashers and a washing machine. Dining area a good size, we altered the arrangement of tables so we were all facing each other. A bar and games room with bar billiards and tv. One tv in lounge area and enough room for a large number of guests. Plenty of supermarkets nearby to stock up fridge freezer and larder. Recycling bins out back.

   A great venue if you have a large group and has everything geared towards that. Lots of lovely bedrooms plus Kitchen, Dining room, Lounge and a Bar! BBQ area outside. Directions: Sat-Nav didn't find it. If driving, use the hotel entrance next door and turn right (through 2 small pillars), that takes you to the car park for Portland House. If walking, a little gate is on the corner of Clifton Road.

   Just had an amazing weekend at Portland House and would recommend it to anyone who wants a stunning property to stay in for a large group of friends or family. We had a joint hen/stag do and it was perfect. Juliet the owner helped is out considerably and provided so much information about the house and surrounding area. We will be back!
