Normally these are the best chips in the area but on the last visit the chips where white and nearly seathrough (anemic)

Update 2025: reasonable fish and good service but really bad chips - very soft, soggy, pale and generally undercooked. No satisfying crispness whatsoever. Don’t think I’ll bother trying them again. Earlier review: Fairly average fish and chip shop - I’ve had worse but I’ve definitely had better. The chips were a bit soggy and could have done with crisping up a bit, and the cod had quite a thick batter that was a bit undercooked and soggy on the inside; both were quite greasy. The fish itself was fine but completely fell apart as soon as a knife and fork touched it. The fish was already cooked when I came into the shop but I was assured it was recently cooked (they would say that wouldn’t they?) Cod, small chips and mushy peas cost Β£10.50. The portion sizes were generous. The food was placed in a plastic bag rather than a paper one which is never a good sign, and would have made it go even soggier if I didn’t remove it as soon as I got to the car. Ok if you’re very local and don’t want to drive too far but I certainly wouldn’t go out of my way to get food from here when there are better options such as Silver Sea or Skippers not far away.

Went in for a portion of chips as a treat for my son at 5:30 today the lady said hold on grabbed out a basket of chips and put them in the fryer. They were in for no more than a few minutes and served. I got home to hard chips! Needless to say a waste of money and an unhappy child

The best fish and chips shop for miles

Very standard, chips need cooking more. Cash only and not cheap.

Reasonable fish and chips. Not the best but good (chips are very standard square, slightly greasy ones).

Could well be the most consistently good fish and chip shop in the 'hood. Often crowded and parking is a bit limited. Don't leave it too late - closes at 2100hrs! Oh and still cash only.

They were nice in there and it looked clean. But the chips were under done. Sausages and fish OK, but the batter was very flat. The curry sauce was really wet. Definitely won't be going back, very disappointed.
