Our two nights at the Leonardo Hotel in Aberdeen's Union Square were absolutely awful, especially considering it's supposed to be a 4 star hotel. We booked two rooms two months ahead of time, even leaving a note asking for interlinked rooms since it was two adults, one little kid, and two teenagers traveling together. When we went to get our room keys from reception, we found out that no one had read our message asking for interlinked rooms, and the only ones available were on the 3rd floor with a double bed and on the 4th floor with two beds, splitting our family by two floors. The room on the 3rd floor was the worst, noise and cleanliness-wise. It was right across from the stairs and elevators, so we heard people coming back from nights out at all hours, which kept waking us up. Plus, there was only one double bed for one adult and two kids. When I called reception to ask how three of us were supposed to sleep in one double bed, their response was basically, "How were we supposed to know?" from both the reception staff and later the manager. It was pretty easy to know, actually, because the room was booked for one adult and two kids, as my booking clearly showed. If the staff had done their job right, they would've seen there were three of us. So, we ended up with an extra folding bed that looked awful and had a terrible mattress for someone to sleep on for two nights. Ugh, this room was a nightmare, and I've got pics to prove it! The toilet area walls were gross with pee or some other dark yellow stains, and the toilet paper holder was super dusty. The shower head had mold and black gunk, the taps were covered in black dirt, and the shower curtains had yellow and mold stains. Even the hand wash liquid dispenser was filthy with dark stains and full of shaving hairs. The kettle was burned inside, and when I complained, they sent it back only half-cleaned. We only got two mugs for three people, and no spoons, so we had to use our fingers or just buy drinks outside (which we did because the kettle were still nasty and no spoons). The big reading light in the room with a reading seat had a European plug on it, so we couldn't even turn it on as we are in UK and we use UK plugs. Seriously, this hotel room was a terrible experience. The other room had similar cleaning problems too but luckily they had 2 beds for 2 people, they had a correct light with UK mains so they could turn it on and even they had spoons to use with a not as dirty dirty kettle. Very overrated hotel unfortunately

Great hotel in a great location! Upon arrival, the initial welcome as a bit sharp and rude yet on return to check in later the receptionist was very accommodating and helpful. The room itself was spacious, well arranged clean and overall, very comfortable! I didn't stay for breakfast.

Nice hotel in a really good location. No gym which is a bit disappointing. Room was ok but no fridge and broken lamp. Not overly bright with dull lighting. Most staff lovely and helpful but one member of staff was extremely unwell - coughing constantly and gave us our room keys. Myself and my sister are both immunosuppressed so this wasnt great at all. I know some people cant take time off work but not a good look for hotel to think its ok for staff to work facing public in this state.

very convenient location next to the train station. large clean rooms, standard business hotel. food and bar open long hours. free decent WiFi. good for business travel. staff a bit unhelpful and moody, and no plugs next to the bed . rooms had bad lighting if you're working at night . would stay again since it's reliable and standard business style hotel

Great central location next to train/bus stations. Staff very friendly and efficient. Easy check in check out. Room had lovely view and very clean. Nothing to fault tbh. We got great deal on ITISON voucher. Will definitely be our first choice of hotel when we return.

Great location, nice staff, and the bar has a huge big outlook over Union Sq. The rooms look a little tired and could do with a refresh and the shower was a little weak and again a bit outdated. Overall a pleasant stay.

My stay was OK. The room are OK and the staff on breakfast are very nice and helpful also the bar and reception staff. But the worse thing in this leonardo hotel is the food is lack of standard each chef cooked the way they like it. They don't know the ingredients on the food sometimes they don't put the ingredients stated in the menu. Or serve food out of date.

Very clean room's and hotel, good breakfast and great location. Only problem I had was finding the entrance! It's up the escalators in the shopping centre but I didn't spot any clear or obvious signs to let people know.
