I have brought countless friends, family members, and colleagues to this restaurant over the years. Whenever people have stayed with me during the summer, it was a place I genuinely enjoyed recommending. Unfortunately, that will never happen again. I recently brought my team here for a staff Christmas lunch, and the experience was deeply disappointing. When it came time to pay, we politely asked to pay separately (not for separate bills, simply to allow individual expense claims). Because service had been slow and we needed to return to a meeting, we approached the till to settle the bill. The response from the staff member was shockingly rude. They behaved as though our request was unreasonable and highly stressful, and their manner was so unpleasant that it completely soured what should have been a positive occasion. The interaction left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. What was most troubling was the impression that customers are expected to accommodate the restaurant, rather than the other way around — as though any request that creates minor inconvenience is unacceptable. The attitude felt ingrained rather than isolated, which raises concerns about the culture of the business as a whole. This was not just poor service; it was a genuinely unsettling experience. I will not return, and I would caution others to think carefully before choosing to dine here.

Only ate here, so cannot comment on the rooms. Return visit after finding it for the first time in May. Good food and the staff are all excellent. Warm surroundings and definitely dog friendly. Dogs are even allowed in the restaurant and not restricted to the bar area. As long as they are well behaved of course. We will definitely return again whenever we are holidaying in the area.

Wow, this was a random find and oh my goodness what a find. Beautiful interior and gorgeous Christmas decorations. We came here for a Sunday roast and were warmly welcomed by the team and the food was stunning. Highly recommend, we will be back

Lovely pub on our way to a weekend in Lymington. Great menu, served up well. Range of choices all served with something a little extra special on the side to show off the skills of the chef. Lovely atmosphere created by efficient and friendly staff. And all good value for money.

We had lunch to celebrate my dad’s birthday on a Wednesday. The food was really, really good- freshly cooked and generous portions. The staff were friendly and obviously keen to make sure we had a nice time. It’s a lovely venue- feels classy but inviting also. And the location is gorgeous. I can’t wait to sit outside when the sun is out! It’s a real asset to Brockenhurst and its surroundings.

The Filly Inn itself is a gorgeous and very relaxing place, and all staff was incredibly accommodating and welcoming. The price of a room packs a great amount of perks – a quiet, clean room stocked full of toiletries, quality tea and coffee, complimentary cookies, tons of delicious breakfast options, and top notch service. All in the heart of the New Forest, easily accessible and with a lovely pub attached for the evenings. Highly recommend.

From the initial conversation and subsequent booking with Sean, when I asked if the Inn was dog friendly and got the response ‘This is the New Forest, dogs and wellies are always welcome’ we had a superb 3 day stay in Room 3. The provision of Percolated coffee, home made cookies, real milk in the fridge and even dog shampoo were welcome surprises in the room. The food was first class and the breakfast is probably the best we have ever had whilst away from home. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was excellent. Sean and his excellent Team always went that little bit further to ensure that everything was as it should be during our stay and I would whole heartedly recommend The Filly Inn to those looking to stay in The New Forest. Thank you Team Sean.

We only ate as opposed to stayed however the food was exceptional with the cod loin gnocci dish being one of the best dishes my partner has had! Service was warm and attentive lovely quiet and contemporary atmosphere. Our mains took a little longer than expected (which we didn't even notice) however the manager offered us a free dessert as a good will gesture which was very unexpected and also very delicious especially the cherry sundae! Would fully recommend and will return the next time we are in the new forest! 5 stars fully deserved!

We stayed at the Filly Inn late in March for a mothers day little treat. The restaurant food has always been very good- a sometimes slow service but always very welcoming. The rooms are nice and modern that appear very clean and superbly presented. They have with a great shower and a medley of shower gels (even one for the dog). The bed was comfortable and the pillows were good quality. Room temperature was very warm, a fan was in the room but still the rooms are 'atticy' so heat stays. Breakfast is included and it is superb. I would stay again with the dog. Across the road is a superb heath for dog walking, if you take the dog out at night when the hotel is closed be warned it is pitch black. They included wellies and umbrellas (which is a nice touch) but I couldn't find a torch.
