If I’m totally honest I expected much better views from the top, but even so, it’s an interesting walk and it gets your heart pumping getting to the top. If you make a day of it and walk along the nearby river it makes the trip worth it.
There is a labyrinth on the NE side (about 60 degrees NE) side of The Clump. The starting point is very close to the clump (see photo). This is the largest labyrinth I have come across in the U.K. Even bigger than the one in Glastonbury (and has less crazy people). It’s is such a pleasant surprise to discover a labyrinth here. Walking a labyrinth is believed to have a meditative effect. A labyrinth is different from a maze in that there is only one way in, and once you reach the centre point of the labyrinth, you turn around and walk back on the same path. Because your brain is not trying to solve problems when you’re walking a labyrinth, and it’s not in a fight or flight mode (not trying to get out of the maze), you can relax, and pay attention to how you feel and how your foot steps land on the ground. Decent walk and views for anyone who likes a wander, nothing too special about this hill but you can see a bit of Winchester Cathedral from the top - very peaceful on a nice sunny day
St Catherine’s Hill is an easy and therapeutic spot for a quick hike with lovely views over Winchester. It’s peaceful, not too crowded, and perfect for a bit of fresh air and relaxation close to the city.
What a lovely place. Not recommended for elderly, pregnant, less-abled though. The walk up does have some steps, but there's a lot of slippery chalk to contend with going up or down the hill. Only been once so maybe there's others ways/paths but we went up 1 way and down another and both slippery in Autumn. Great views at the top. Nice little woods for kids to play hide and seek in. Will definitely visit again.
The family dragged me out...for a walk..to get my steps up!! I was pleasantly surprised to find that this 'hill' had very sensible sturdy wooden steps to take you to the lofty top! I had visions of scrambling up muddy walkways. It was a bit of a killer for an old unfit bird like me...but I did it! And wow...it was worth it. The views are stunning. There is a small woodland on the crest..and a little grass maze which the grandkids liked. But the views....beautiful....definitely worth the shortness of breath in the climb! And coming back down was easy! And a happy 11000 steps!

Great views of Winchester Cathedral and surrounding countryside. Footpaths through the downs and along the river, with interesting sites enroute.
Great outdoor space. Used to have a hilltop fort. Wooded copse and an old turf maze are still unique plus stairs up the side. Great views of the Winchester area.
Good place for a good 2 hour walk and the hill is easily accessible due to wooden steps, good for dog walks but beware of cattle livestock roaming free if dog off lead
