My husband and I are in our 7 th decade yet this was our first Christmas Lunch out. We have been going to The White Horse for 40 years. We arrived at 12.10 for our 12.30 lunch. The picture shows where we were sat for our Christmas meal, away from the bar and restaurant area. Away from the decorations and ignored. We asked to be moved- No was the abrupt reply. We asked if we could have a refund so we could leave- No came the indignant reply from the waitress/ head waitress. Oh! When we first entered we were met with, go over there. No hello or welcome. My main meal was not eaten as both plate and food cold. Parsnip solid. Meal looked like it had been tipped out of a container. My husbands rice pudding returned as cold. Atmosphere and food disgraceful. Ruined our Christmas Day. Pub Manager came over to table next to us who were even more unhappy and said we should cut his staff slack as it was Christmas. They said it was the worst meal they had ever had. Their family also had been going to The White Horse for 30 plus years. Thoughtless profiteering led to a disgraceful experience. These lunches were £125 each. And surely the staff could have felt the cold plates as they picked up from the kitchen and brought them to our table. Horrible experience!

I love this place. Been several times for drinks or food whwn passing to go to Goodwood. Always wanted to stay and finally did. I love this place, all the rooms are different. We had 4 so got to see. Bed was very comfortable, clean, tidy, lots of extra touches. Why pay to stay at Goodwood which is starting to look tired when you can stay here for less and far better. I will be back, loved it.

Stayed here Sun-Wed at the start of November (this week) and my word, a five star service indeed. I was very late booking this on the Sunday, called them and Suzie booked me in and matched the online price I was getting (I was checking to see what latest check in would be as I was travelling from far) Upon arrival Suzie was still on-site and awaited my arrival, a warm greeting and even allowed me to have a pint after the travel even though they could've closed. Not only this, they also asked about breakfast and I mentioned i'd be gone before they opened to which she offered to see if they could make up a bacon bap for me in the morning if I let them know the night before. In all honesty, in terms of customer service this was really top tier. Rooms were clean and the hotel was nice comfy and quiet. (Considering its attached to a pub & restaurant, this was a real surprise) my only niggle is that my room had a bath and no shower, but i'm sure if I wasn't A) so late on booking I could've requested this specifically. and B) there probably wasn't any rooms available with a shower at such short notice... so not really on them to provide this. But just be aware when you book to specify. All in all, I will definitely be back as I work down in Chichester quite often, and I think i've now finally found a spot which has a perfect blend of customer service and quality of stay.

Had the most wonderful couple of days staying here. The accommodation is really good, comfortable beds, very clean and fitted out very well. The food was really excellent both evening meals and breakfasts. Sam and the team made us feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The pub is a very dog friendly place, we felt "underdressed" as we do not have a dog, but we made a few canine friends. For guests staying with dogs, there is l lovely grassed quadrangle for exercising the dogs. The pub is situated in a very rural location, the location is in a dark sky area, and for my hobby of astrophotography, absolutely ideal location. Most definitely will be coming back, hopefully for a few cloud free nights.

My husband, our dog and I visited for the first time this weekend. We had a wonderful relaxing time in a beautiful area of England. The staff are all friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable, with little touches like a small bottle of milk for tea. The food was delicious, and the wine menu was great. Best of all, it is truly dog friendly - Bailey will not forget her breakfast sausages in a hurry!

Another brilliant party here. After my mum's 80th last year and now my husbands 50th today. The staff were brilliant, they were just the right amount of helping and leaving us to it. The food was amazing although I wish I had ordered the short rib as I had plate envy. The private dining room is beautiful. We will be back. Thank you.

Dinner was stunning a fantastic burst on flavours on 1 plate. The whole atmosphere was lovely. Beautiful pub, friendly staff. Attentive to needs but allowed you to just relax and enjoy yourself. Will definitely be back!

Recently had Sunday lunch. The roast beef was very average - a couple of wafer thin slices and very chewy. Portion size was very disappointing with only 2 average tasting roast potatoes. Had to ask for accompanying sauces which took an age turn up - most of us had nearly finished by the time they arrived. The food service in general was very poor and it wasn’t that busy. However, drinks service was good. All in all, a disappointing experience given the lovely decor and setting of the pub.

Great accommodation. The staff were very hospitable too. We had the Muddy Paws package as we had a dog. This includes 2 cocktails, a dinner allowance, and an extra sausage at breakfast for your dog. Unfortunately my wife had to ask for the breakfast sausage for our dog and ask regarding how the voucher and cocktails were claimed. Very small and not a gripe, maybe it could be explained when people check in. A beautiful venue though and we will definitely be back.

Pleasant and friendly staff. Old fashioned pub style furnishings. Good range of beers and ciders. Good choices on the menu. Tasty food. Good sized fish in fish and chips and traditional pie for steak and ale pie. Good range of deserts including ice creams. Car park opposite. Adjacent car park has Tesla charging points.
