Stayed here for 3 nights as a family - although the hotel and room was OK, the person at reception was a bit rude at departure and made us feel really unwelcome as foreign guests. Would not stay again.

The Dorset Hotel (or is it Dorset House Hotel? even Google wasn’t sure) was a good place to stay, just a few minutes’ walk from the main activities in Ryde. Stress levels when trying to find it would’ve been lower if it stuck to one name—but once we finally walked through the door, we were greeted with a cheery welcome and shown to our room. The bedroom was clean and comfortable. The bathroom, however, felt like it had been squeezed in as a later DIY project. The room description said “compact bathroom,” which is technically accurate… though I’ve definitely stayed in bedrooms larger than this bathroom. That said, it managed to fit a shower, toilet, and sink, all in working order, so points for efficiency. Breakfast was perfectly fine—nothing to write home about, but the staff were helpful and made sure we were looked after. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would happily go back again (armed with a map and a flexible definition of the word compact).

Our mistake when booking , due to mobility issues. However cannot fault the welcome and the amazing friendly team, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was a bit small and dated, but clean, and beds were comfy, lovely communal lounge and bar, extremely reasonable, breakfast superb, bus service nearly on the doorstep, peaceful and quiet and added bonus of Dave's marmalade ( which I have bought to bring home) and of course the lovely cat, will definitely stay again, well done all.

Location ideal for getting about the island. Dave at breakfast was very cheerful, polite and always happy to help. Winter duvets in August not needed, shower was slow and red hot all the time. But enjoyed our stay and exploring the IOW

I had a fantastic stay at the Dorset Hotel! From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming — nothing was too much trouble. The room was spotless and very well maintained, which made for a really comfortable stay. Breakfast each morning was a real highlight — fresh, tasty, and with plenty of choice to suit everyone. The location is also perfect, with easy access to local attractions, shops, and transport links. Everything about the hotel felt clean, well-run, and thoughtfully managed. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. A real gem!

Stayed here with my friend on 24 march 23 until 26. Stayed in room 23. Hotel staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. breakfast was lovely, very close to amenities and seafront. Had a room with the best view of the solent, which was decorated very nicely (pretty). Would have liked a long mirror in the room (maybe on the inside of a wardrobe door would be a good place) just so I could see what I looked like in an outfit before I went out. Overall a lovely place to stay.

2nd time Ive stayed here. Great hotel and location. Lovely helpful friendly staff. Only real downside are the showers. Pressure and temperature were somewhat erratic! There was no light pull and the bathroom extractor fan didnt work Minor niggles/inconveniences, but otherwise it's a good place to stay

The Queen Victoria Suite is the best. Nice touch with congratulations banners for our honeymoon. Unusual homemade candles for sale. Good breakfast lots of towels changed daily and a bar on site.

The location was very easy to find and the views were lovely. The staff were polite and accommodation was just right. It was very quiet and slept great. The breakfast was perfect and they had a nice selection to choose from. Will be definitely returning. Thank you

Friendly staff, well-sized rooms & good location. Our room was quite tired, but great views & very reasonably-priced. We also love Flossie the resident cat! Would definitely stay again. I don't think that there was a vegan breakfast option, but lots of cafes nearby
