We stayed at Woodside Bay Coastal Retreat, during the last week of November 2025. This has become a regular holiday for my birthday. On arrival it was obvious that the lodge (No 28) had not been cleaned or checked. The floors and surfaces were dirty, previous occupants has not properly washed plates and glasses (which had to be completely exchanged) and other cooking equipment was dirty. There were soiled towels in one of the cupboards, and in general the lodge lacked maintenance, with mould around showers and rooflights. We spent around four hours cleaning on arrival to get the lodge to an acceptable standard. On two occasions the gas supply to the site cut off overnight. This was a known issue as a result of cold weather but there was no plan in place to respond to this or to alert customers. We had to sit in an unheated lodge until reception opened at 9am to report the issue, and then wait for maintenance. The electric fire was not working.. Subsequently the operator has offered a small compensation payment which in no way reflects the inconvenience or our disappointment with this holiday. I would NOT recommend Woodside Bay as a holiday destination.

Me and my partner brought my dog and stayed in the dog friendly lodge where given a dog goody bag when arrived at the lodge. When arriving at the lodge it was amazing you could tell it had been cleaned and on terms with the hot tub it was lovely maintenances checks are done daily which is lovely to see All round and amazing place and would definitely recommend

First time booking with Darwin Escapes and couldn't have been more impressed. Had booked a 2 bed lodge for a family 4 night break and when I called to see if I could upgrade they booked us into a 4 bed, 3 bathroom lodge at no extra charge which was amazing. Despite reading previous reviews about the cleanliness of the accommodation, we found our lodge to be spotless. Loved the fact that we could get into our lodge early as we'd booked an early ferry crossing and all the reception staff were very helpful. Only slight issue was one of the tvs in the bedroom was not working and the batteries were missing from one of the remotes but this did not take anything away from the holiday. Will definitely book with Darwin again.

Had a lovely short girls trip away to celebrate a special birthday together. Very clean and spacious lodge, in a quiet location. Great views of the beach from the hot tub. So lucky to have sunny weather for plenty of beach walking. Nice frendly staff on reception. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to return.

This place has a really special location leading down to the sea. We stayed in Coastal retreat cabin 28, Carisbrooke view Premier. Booked last minute so got a good deal. Located right at the beach front. Beautiful views. Very peaceful. Although lodges are very close. A couple of minutes walk and you arrive at the Lodge retreat next door, where there is a bar, we ordered pizza and had cocktails. The cocktails and pizza were great and the staff were friendly. Just a bit of a wait, they looked like they could of done with another helper. The Lodge itself was very roomy and had everything we needed. Unfortunately though the lodge is a little run down, needs a serious deep clean. It is not luxury by any standards. The grouting in the bathrooms need replacing, the absolute stink of dog was overwhelming in the bedrooms, so I suggest the carpet is ripped up. The kettle was in desperate need of a descale. The washing machine needed a good clean and I left it in a better state than when we checked in. I'd of been complaining if I had paid full price. If you can get past the grubbiness, or get a good deal, what a wonderful place!

Views were great but accommodation was poor, stains on ceilings, and curtains and fixtures and fittings were way past new, offered a poor 20% off future holiday but I can get that with other discounts neither them or hoseasons cared

Had a lovely pre Christmas weekend away with the family. Great accommodation and surroundings. Sea view was limited to a small gap from lodge 16c and cleaning could be a little better finished. Would definitely go back and stay in one of the beach side lodges.

When firstly arriving accommodating looks lovely and has great views of the sea but under closer inspection I’m quite disappointed with it considering the cost of a holiday here all the tv in all the rooms kept dropping signal every two seconds and the pledge had a very bad ant problem they were everywhere including bedrooms had them crawling on my when trying to eat breakfast ect which wasn’t nice. Also hadn’t been cleaned to well as there was old crush crips in drawers in kitchen and splashes of juice down the cupboard fronts found bit old dries up playdoh in the bedroom too. when booking it’s doesn’t make it clear that there is an age limit on the hot tub and I was quite abruptly confronted on the first morning by a member of staff about this. The private beach attached to the park is also not very good for children and it has no sand and is very pebbly when the tide is in there basically no beach and when tide is out just pebbles and the odd very muddy area so My children were disappointed.

Large modern lodge in a good location. Has everything you need for your stay including a washing machine & dishwasher. Cost is dependent on season but I don't think you would be disappointed. Remember to add ferry cost to your budget additional £150-£250 if your driving down.

The staff and facilities were excellent. The cost for one doge is excessive. Reasonable value for money. The hot tub was amazing. If I was honest we think the cabin (C32) was very tired and it's excessive use showed, although new carpets were in the bedrooms the rest of the accommodation was worn but very presentable. We understand the cabins are in the process of being revitalised
