We weren't going to visit, as the guided tours weren't bookable online when we were in town, but it's still worth coming to Middleport for the bits you can see of the heritage trail, the Burleigh factory shop next door, the historic buildings and maybe a coffee at the cafe on the canal too. Characterful spot.

Great virtual tour for less able visitors, excellent guide who was a mine of information about this early example of factories and continuous processes. Good catering and well worth a visit

On our great pottery tour of Stoke on Trent we started with Middleport Pottery and jumped on the factory tour. Our guide Stuart was wonderful. So knowledgeable and generous with his time to answer questions. I highly recommend this tour and visiting this important historic place. If you love pottery itβs a must see, if you donβt know that you love pottery it still is a must see!

Fascinating. The buildings date back to 1888 and have been preserved and opened up for visitors with just one of the original seven bottle ovens surviving. A great deal of work has gone in to making the displays interesting. There's also a cafe and visitor shop for the Burleigh pottery that is still produced on the site. Highly recommended to visit.

I visited with my husband on a Saturday, and we had a lovely time. The entrance is free, and the whole place has such a peaceful and charming atmosphere. We really enjoyed having tea, coffee, cookies, and cake at the riverside cafΓ© β it was so relaxing. The museum is informative and well-preserved, and the little shops with handmade pottery were a joy to explore. Iβm also looking forward to the river trips starting in June! A perfect spot for a cultural yet relaxing day out. Highly recommended!

Fascinating place. Stewart, our tour guide did an excellent job of taking us through the history of the pottery, right up to today. This is not just a museum, but a working pottery, encompassed in grade 2A buildings that date from the 1880's. The entire pottery making process can be seen, by observing their very talented craftspeople at work. Excellent restaurant. Well worth a visit. We will be back, as the 5 hours we spent there was just not enough time . Book early !

A very Interesting place looking at the heritage of the pottery industry and it's workings. Nice cafe to get a bite to eat and a drink. Also some good bargains in the shop if you are looking for souvenirs or indeed a full dinner set.

Went to this establishment today mainly to get some food on the way back home. Service was very good, lovely little cafe, quite cheap with some great seating by the side of the canal! Worth a look around at the pottery shops as well, quite a few skilled craftspeople working there. Heritage trail is also good, with some interesting guides. Staff were very helpful with my disabled son. Thank you!

We went to use the cafe which appears in a Sawdays book... The extra Mile as its close to the motorway. The cafe was lovely, set in the packing house and right next to the canal. Unsurprisingly everything is served on Middle port pottery. Really good coffee and a nice choice of teas. We enjoyed cake so can't comment on the full menu but it all looked lovely. I loved the faded blue mural on the wall and the teapots made into lights. Really good location and a fascinating place to wander round, lots of little studios that you can pop into as well
