βI can't recommend Halcyon Counselling enough. The counselling I received was just what I was looking for and needed. I felt able to talk about my issues in a safe and nonjudgmental environment and I'm now in a place where I feel I no longer need counselling, but I know that I could go back in the future if needed, and I would. I would highly recommend!β
βFive years ago I was at rock bottom and my doctor gave me this link. I contacted them and they came back to me with an appointment to see one of their counsellors, Dave. I was given the option to see a female but decided to stay with Dave. How very glad I am that I did because for once a week for ten weeks, an hour at a time, Dave gradually made me feel human again, very gently but really strongly. I shall be forever grateful to him, he's a wonderful person and 'got me' straightaway.β
βChanged my life fantastic place very professionally doneβ
βAfter years with a nightmare condition, and almost no life, trapped indoors, friendless, Cathie Gibbs diagnosed my condition. For 20 years I was in the dark, and she told me what had caused it, and how it could be dealt with. She referred me to a hypnotherapist at the practice, Julie. After 2 years, I was a changed man, and had a life again. They are special people at Wharfedale. Warm and friendly, and with extraordinary skills alongside a caring approach.β
βI called up open minds back in June 2022 and they were so helpful I went in the same day and had a 1-1 with Jonathan (counsellor) and Iβve had lots of counselling over the years and nobody could really figure out what the problem was. I got more from that hour with him than I ever have in the past and knew thatβs where I wanted to begin my recovery! When I went in the day after I met 1 of the house managers who I got on with straight away he made me feel totally at ease. The thing I love about open minds is they have all gone through open minds themselves and follow the same 12 step programme I follow today, so they talk from experience not just books. Everybody there was really lovely and I felt at home for the time I was there! Iβm still in close contact with a lot of them today and they still help me more than they know! the after care is amazing, anytime I call or text I get a reply within minutes. Iβm 2 years clean thanks to open minds itβs really changed my life and I couldnβt do it without any of them and canβt thank them enough for what they have given me. Iβve always known how to survive as an addict but open minds have taught me how to live.β
βI've been reading some of the reviews and I'd like to start off my saying I'm sorry some of you didn't get the help when you needed. One thing I learned is finding a therapist is like shopping..you have to shop around till you find one that's suited for you. It took me ages to find places that worked for me and because of my wellbeing college it helped me massively. Don't be discouraged if it didnt work with these..there is loads more out there. I know it's hard especially when your already fighting a battle in your own head...but you just got to keep fighting till you find the right one.β
