“We tried a few different baby classes and enjoyed Gymboree the most. Karen is warm and friendly and takes the time to explain why we are doing each of the activities, which I appreciated. It’s not too overwhelming for the little ones. Highly recommend”

Monkey Puzzle Acton Day Nursery & Preschool

    ★★★★☆ 4.3
    Closed

“I can not recommend this daycare enough. Monkey Puzzle has intuitive staff who care about every child. The staff know my child and regularly ask how he and our family is doing. The daycare has a large space as well for children to play in, both indoors and outdoors. I find that due to the good ventilation, my child did not get sick quite as often when he came to this nursery as compared to another we tried. Plus, the daycare is willing to work with parents on changed schedules or if additional days are needed. This was so useful during my pregnancy when it turned out I needed more days at the daycare for my older child. We could also bring and pick up our children based on their natural schedule (my eldest tends to wake up later). I felt absolutely reassured sending both my kids to Monkey Puzzle - they found a way to look after both very well. This is considering the fact that both of my children are very attached to me and my husband. Despite that, they were able to find staff that the children connected well with. In addition to all this, the daycare has events occasionally for the parents, where I see first hand the healthy meals that the children are given. It's very reassuring that the chef on staff works to create meals that are not too sweet or salty, but still flavored and interesting for the kids. From what I gathered, the day is relatively unstructured - very child-led. They also occasionally have guests that come and teach interesting topics like yoga or football. Children are not required to come to circle time or participate in activities (note this was for up to 3 year old, the preschool might be more structured). They even work around the child's natural rhythm - for example, my eldest child was showing signs of wanting to stop nap times, and the daycare respected his and our desire to quit naps around 2.5 years old, a bit earlier than others in his class. They also moved my eldest to the toddler room based on when he felt ready for it, rather than strictly based on age, which was very benefitial to him. The rooms have a range of ages, so our eldest had a great chance to learn from older children when he was an only child, and also learn to interact carefully with younger children when we were trying to acclimate him to the idea of a younger brother. I unfortunately moved out of the country and have had the misfortune of getting to compare a high quality US daycare with Monkey Puzzle. The fussiness, need for us provide everything, inflexible schedule that was decidedly not child-led, and useless logging is a complete opposite to what we experienced at Monkey Puzzle. The age ranges are also much more narrow at the US daycare, which means our child won't get to learn from older children anymore. Thankfully our youngest child has a big brother he can observe regularly. I have experienced a couple of issues at Monkey Puzzle, but nothing major. Clothes get exchanged between children - but we experienced this everywhere, and it is probably due to the fact I really don't care enough to label every item we send our child to daycare in. They also don't concentrate on ensuring daily photos of your child (usually there are weekly photos of the whole class). And sometimes the log misses a pee or poo. I also don't think there's an effective key person (though I think there's an official one). I just know the staff member who my child tends to gravitate towards. When all is said and done, I would send my kid back to Monkey Puzzle in a heartbeat if we are back in the area. The wonderful staff, child-led environment, and flexibility made it a wonderful second home for my children.”

“I have used this Nursery for 4 years for my 2 sons and have much praise for their care, love and development of my children. The staff across all the rooms here are very supportive, friendly and welcoming, acting much like an extended family to me. My boys have both thrived here, the educational activities they run inside and outside are truly inspiring - science experiments/ cooking classes/ show and tells/ sports days I would thoroughly recommend.”

“I first visited the nursery on its open day in November 2022. It was so lovely and clean and all the staff were really warm and friendly. We didn’t hesitate to sign up. My daughter started at just 5 months old and we are proud that she is one of the opening crew at the baby room. She has achieved many milestones and as a family, the team have very much supported this journey so far! Not being from London and this being our only child, we have often needed the team more than we expected, they have never let us down. Thank you Heleanna and team - you are amazing.”

“First Bridge Centre is the most wonderful school. The teaching is of the highest quality, and we have daily updates in addition to monthly parent meetings. My little boy absolutely adores going in every day. He gets so excited. When we first joined we were so worried about his development. His progress in the last year has been nothing short of extraordinary and we are so relieved to see him so happy and thriving.”
