“Tadashi is my go-to for chicken katsu curry! The owner is always really friendly, the portion sizes are great and ingredients taste fresh and more healthy than your typical highly processed katsu curry. Comes with a fortune cookie which is a nice touch and prices are very good!”
“The best quality sushi you will get in the area! ⭐️They have the best selection for real sushi not like these other places. Every order has been perfect!”
“The food was delicious and authentic. We chose a weekend and were lucky with a sunny day, so chose to sit outside. Considering it was a weekend, service was a bit slow, but understandable.”
“Pleasant evening at Gospel Oak. Had a delicious dish - meaty Rigatoni Guanciale. Tastes amazing. Friendly staff and fast service.”
“One of the best sushi places in the area! For the price you pay, you get authentic, good quality sushi with a wide range of choices. I usually get it on Deliveroo and occasionally will pop in. The cafe only has two seats so it’s recommended to get takeaway. The chef there is always friendly and makes sure you are happy with your food. The sushi fish selection is varied and has things like butterfish and sea bream which aren’t so common. I’ve never had a disappointing or below standard meal from them. Always delicious and fresh! There is also a mini selection of Japanese products which is wonderful. If you are in the area, you need to come here - don’t bother with any of the other high street places. This is the place for authentic sushi.”
“Our pizza was made by Chef Gio! Incredibly nice and honest man, our pizza came out delicious! And the service was very good!”
“Amazing place - a genuine neighborhood gem! Don't be put off by the unassuming look of the premises from the outside - it's very cute (and clean!) inside, the fish is always fresh, and the owner is extremely friendly. Honestly, this is the best sushi we've had in London so far. We keep coming back to this place a few times every month - in fact, we come back so often, that our picture is now on the wall :)”
“Really lovely little spot. Very quiet but it was a Tuesday evening. Food amazing and service attentive. Worth a visit.”
“Perfect, fresh and delicious food at a good price. Tried it for the first time today after living in the area for some years and was really impressed. The hot dishes are seasoned and cooked to perfection and I can't wait to try the sushi.”
“Wonderful little sushi restaurant in the middle of Woolwich despite the unprepossessing exterior. The food is excellent and freshly prepared, and the staff are super friendly. Good selection of sushi, as well as noodle and rice dishes. We dined in shortly after opening time, so it was very quiet.”
“I had such a wonderful experience with the sushi here! The fish was incredibly fresh, tender, and full of flavor — you can really taste the quality in every bite. The rice was perfectly seasoned and held together just right without being too heavy. Presentation was beautiful, with each roll looking like a work of art.”

“Full review on Instagram @hungrybelly.blog #FoodBlog The service was amazing. Lovely family. The food was delicious. Highly Recommend! Support the local businesses”
“With a background in kaiseki, Chef Yasu’s cooking always carries a strong sense of seasonality. This visit, set at the turn of summer to autumn, saw two styles of plating shift from vivid colours to the muted tones of fallen leaves, wheat, chestnuts and early autumn earth. The restaurant focuses on ageing, and the highlights were unmistakably the scallop and squid. Although Japanese ingredients in China are far superior to London’s in general, the flavour developed from this ice-water ageing technique was surprisingly deep and expressive. Inaniwa Udon ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Intense katsuobushi umami with a touch of sudachi’s bright sweet–sour freshness. Hand Roll ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Crisp nori, creamy minced tuna, rich and silky — packed with pure umami. Anago (Saltwater Eel) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The exterior soaks up the sweet, glossy sauce; the eel is tight-grained and delicate with a hint of sansho. Scallop ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Soft and sticky after ageing, with concentrated natural sweetness. Hirame ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Clean and refreshing, faint acidity opening into a gentle sweetness. Buri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Light fat, elegant umami, and the distinctive aromatic heat of yuzu kosho. Zucchini Blossom Tempura ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Deep mushroom aroma; the shell is crisp with a mild natural sweetness. A5 Wagyu Tartare ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Beef fat laced with subtle truffle aroma; the tart shell is crisp and the umami full. Ika (Squid) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Finely cut and aged until soft, intensely sweet with a savoury edge. Akami ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thickly layered, meaty and full of deep, concentrated umami. Uni ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Cold, silky, sweet, with shiso and nori aromatics. Amadai (Scale-On Grill) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Crisp salty scales, delicate slightly sweet flesh, and mushrooms (shiitake, maitake) sautéed into a savoury, aromatic mix. Wagyu ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A5 fillet breaded and fried, dipped in Nagoya hatcho miso — surprisingly reminiscent of Shaoxing stinky tofu in the best way. Tender and flavour-packed. Kakigōri ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Plum and lime — tart, sweet and icy refreshing. Langoustine ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Charcoal notes mixed with sansho leaf fragrance; rich tomalley and crisp-sweet meat. Aburi Ōtoro ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rendered fat aroma with a touch of Himalayan salt. Fatty Tuna Roll ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rich umami and fat in one satisfying bite. Chicken Sandwich ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Crisp bread, sweet–tart nanban sauce, firm and tender chicken. Kinako Ice Cream ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Financier shaped like a madeleine — warm, soft and sweet. Ice cream smooth and delicate, reminiscent of fresh soy milk. Fig Monaka ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Light sweetness with the gentle aroma of mochi wafers. Total bill: £269.1 Recommendation score: 9.2/10”
“An Unforgettable Izakaya Experience – A True Hidden Gem in London! What an incredible dining experience! We had the Izakaya course meal and every single dish was absolutely fabulous. The highlight for me was the sashimi – without a doubt, the freshest and most perfectly prepared I’ve ever had, even compared to top spots in Japan. THE OCTOPUS AND ASPARAGUS DISH IS A MUST-HAVE (see pics)! Chef Makoto is a true master of his craft – you can taste the passion, precision, and authenticity in every bite. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it feel like a secret escape to Japan right in the heart of London. This restaurant is a rare find – a genuine hidden gem that deserves to be on every food lover’s list. If you’re looking for an unforgettable Japanese dining experience, this is the place. I can’t wait to come back!”
“Came here for lunch on a saturday without a booking and got a table without having to wait. The food was delicious, especially the pressed sushi thing. Honestly I've never had sushi like that before and i loved it. We also had a nice coffee after. Definitely recommend this place for lunch or dinner!”
“What a wonderful little restaurant! Despite having very high expectations due to all the great reviews, my family and I were still surprised at how great this place was. The sashimi pieces were lovely and thick, their signature rolls were delicious but our favourite was the udon (unfortunately not pictured as we were too busy slurping it up!)- the noodles were cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend this place for the delicious food and the lovely attentive staff!”
“The service was very quick and super nice. I order the gourmet set and it was super delicious and fresh very much worth the money. I haven’t such good since I was in Japan. Would come again 5 stars Also the miso super very yummy would happily have the miso super”
“Amazing food always. Best quality grill chicken and Pizzas . The people are so friendly and helpful. A true local gem.”
“Amazing value for money here, the salmon sashimi is excellent quality and the prawn tempura is unmatched (not in photo)! Such a great place for lunch”
“I’m a local and have had sushi from here many times - it never disappoints. Portions are very generous and we are always full. They are very friendly and you can order online directly through their website.”
“Wow this place has incredible sushi will be recommending! The dragon rolls and the fish tacos are delicious. Would be paying a lot more if this restaurant was central London. I would recommend booking as they order in fresh fish every day. The staff are really friendly and even gave us complimentary pudding to takeaway. such a sweet gesture. Thank you! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”
“Super tasty katsu burrito roll. Highly recommended if you don’t mind a little bit of a messy eat; otherwise go for a poke bowl. They are all very tasty!”
“I ordered from this place last night and it was so good that I came back again today. If you order in person, the place looks like a literal hole in the wall (just a window, no shopfront) off the main road, but don't let that put you off. The food is reasonably priced and delicious. Decent vegan offering.”
“Excellent fresh sushi made by the family that runs the place. Very good value for money, a lovely authentic independent deli. Keep up the good work!”
“A delightful hidden gem of a sushi restaurant. Small but in a good way, this is a nice quiet and relaxed place to go for a meal. I was lucky enough to go when there were not many other customers, it might be different when busy, but I really enjoyed the cozy, personal atmosphere. Food was good, definitely worth the money. I recommend the sea bass sashimi. Service was top notch. If I was a local, I would absolutely come here often.”
“First time takeaway from here. Amazing - best sushi I've had in ages. Mackerel was particularly good.”
“Ended up here spontaneously on our second date, and it turned out to be the best decision because wow, the food did not disappoint. We ordered the Meat Supreme, and it was incredibly crispy without being too doughy. I genuinely wish I could experience that first bite all over again. The ranch sauce was a bit rich on its own, so something spicy to cut through it would’ve been perfect. The turnover is quite fast, as people tend to eat and leave, so seating wasn’t an issue even on a Saturday. The staff were also really friendly. I can’t wait to come back.”
“The staff were lovely and catered to all of our needs. Very friendly & welcoming. The piazzas were light, delicious and fresh, rocket salad was moreish, but I’d say the calamari were average as they were a bit chewy.”
