“I've been to see other 'financial experts' and in my experience, most of them tell you want to hear, and then try and sell you one of their products. I recently went to see David Shirley at Strategem FP. Not only is extremely knowledgable on a wide range of financial planning aspects, he's also very approachable. I told him my ideas on an investment strategy (which would have given him some fee paying work). David listened, then spent quite some time explaining why my strategy was not the optimal one for me, and provided me with an alternative strategy, which was best for me, although didn't provide him with any fees. It's safe to say that he really does act in the clients' best interest. I will more business people operated like David. Highly recommended.”

Colin has a wonderful ability to communicate challenging concepts with clarity and patience. Colin is an advocate of passive, index investing. Colin's pricing is exceedingly fair, unlike traditional AUM fee structures that attempt to justify itself via fear mongering (with some variant of "this is too complex for you to do without us"). It is a shame Colin is such a rarity, if you can establish yourself as a client before he runs out of capacity, consider yourself lucky.”

Hilltop did the most due diligence on my existing schemes, producing the most comprehensive, helpful report. They have access to the whole pension fund market and I felt confident in going with them, based on their advice, compared to the others, and their fee structure was competitive too. They advised me to not touch my final salary schemes and to combine my other defined contribution schemes into one high performing scheme with Aviva invested primarily in US equities based on my personal risk appetite (7 from 10, where 10 is highest risk). I’m also going to making regular transfers from current workplace DC scheme into the Aviva fund. I am seeing decent growth already, after only 3 months! Recommended”
