   We went to the green man in Middleton, thought we would give it a go as we haven’t been in so long and it used to be a favourite. This was the worst experience we have ever had to be honest! The service was shocking. Sat down, ordered drinks no Sauvignon blanc. Ok. Next ordered no Camembert to start, no fish and chips, it was like whatever we ordered was out of stock, 15 minutes later we don’t have scampi. Ok. Had sausage and mash x2. Awful, mash was dry flavourless and not colcannon as it said on the menu. 1x lasagne terrible- no meat in it and when we said we think it’s vegetable lasagne we were told the chef “checked the packet” and it is the meat one. That’s literally disgusting, who says that! And 1x burger again burnt cold awful! They took the drinks off-fair, but waitress rolled her eyes when we said we weren’t happy about the 4th thing not being available. My god what is going on! We should have been told there was no this or that when we sat down. We had to ask for the heating to be put on at 6pm on a Friday night, it was genuinely awful and freezing. We went to McDonald’s after as we haven’t a hungry 16 year old that wouldn’t even eat the food. So disappointing

   Disappointed - Visited on a Saturday night place was very unexpectedly quiet . Ordered various drinks to be told they had not got tonic for gin or martini , no 0 Guinness and they then ran out of orange juice . Three of us ordered the meat pie which we had to send back as they were cold in the middle , this meant one person eat their meal alone while we waited for replacement meals which to be honest the pies were much hotter but not steaming in the middle but admittedly the pie was very tasty . When we asked for the bill we were brought the card machine and told the amount , when we asked to see a bill there had been a problem and they had wiped off our list from the till , anyway it got worked out and we paid . Seems to be a very inexperienced team running the pub and the staff are trying their best but are faced with problems at each customer request.

   Visited over the weekend and after reading older reviews i was not expecting much however I was pleasantly surprised, nice cosey clean country pub. Staff was extremely friendly and made sure out visit was enjoyable. Food was cooked to perfection. I was informed that the pub has been taken over by new managers and after speaking to the locals it seems they are doing a great job getting the pub back to how it should be. Thank you for a great evening. Will definitely be back again soon

   Very disappointed with quality of food. The olives were bland and soft. The fishcakes were flat, mainly tasted of potato and overdone breadcrumbs, the salad was soggy and the dressing...if indeed there was any, had no flavour. I have been dining at The Green man for many years and have noticed the quality of food has definitely gone down and the prices up. I have no problem in paying premium price when dining out providing i receive premium food unfortunately this was not the case..the quality of fishcakes was definitely not worth £14.95! Even though this is my local unfortunately i shall not be dining here again.

   Haven't eaten here in years, brought my mother in law for her birthday today. The atmosphere is lovely, the staff were friendly and the service was great, couldn't fault the food it was lovely and the puddings were amazing. Will definitely come again
