We stopped for breakfast on a long journey, family of 5. Pleasantly surprised by how nice the cafe was - staff were lovely, food was good, ready in good time, good range of menu choice, nice crockery. The cafe was affordable which was what attracted us in the first place. It was as good an experience as any Costa or Starbucks. I was also pleased there was a usb port to charge my phone. You order by touch screen which I don’t mindm. The pictures makes it very clear what you’re getting. Though I can understand it might be a barrier to some people. My 6 year old wandered off and the staff were helpful in finding him again. He was found in a nearby toy aisle and staff were helpful and seemed to know what to do if that happened.

I havent been to a Tesco cafe in ages so great to see how its modernised. Theres modern decor and a relaxed environment. Great for families and space for accessible seating. I love their new menu lots of veggie options and optional extras like hasbrowns. The service was great we were served by Stella who was warm and welcoming. Food came quickly and a good portion size.

The staff in the café are lovely and helpful; however, the fact that you must pay at a self-service machine has major drawbacks. What about the older generation who struggle with these machines, or people with disabilities or dementia? My grandad would simply walk away because it’s too hard for him. And for people with dementia, this type of system is even more confusing and stressful — unfamiliar buttons, screens, and card-only payment make it feel demeaning for them. If they ask for help, it can be embarrassing. On a moral level, this doesn’t feel right. Not only that, but the move to card-only payments is a big issue. A large number of older people still rely on cash. For example: Research from Age UK found that around 21% of people aged 65 + in the UK rely on cash “to a great extent” in their day-to-day life. The UK Parliament briefing noted that 37% of those aged 75+ used cash the last time they bought something in a local shop (versus around 18% for all ages). A survey by NerdWallet UK found that about 79% of UK adults plan to use cash in 2025 for some spending, and those aged 65+ were more likely to rely on it than younger people. So when a café removes the option of paying in cash and forces self-service machines + card only, it effectively excludes a significant portion of older customers and those with cognitive or physical impairments. That feels discriminatory. From a dignity standpoint, it’s also demeaning: older people may hesitate to ask for help because they feel embarrassed or worry they’re holding up the queue. They deserve to be treated with respect, with payment options that suit them—not systems that assume everyone is comfortable with tech. I’m very disappointed in Tesco Café for this. I believe the system should offer alternative payment options (cash, assisted till, staff-assisted payment) and ensure staff are able and ready to support older customers and those with dementia. It’s not just a convenience issue—it’s about accessibility, dignity and fairness

Definitely recommend the grain bowls as a filling meal. Food was delivered hot just took some time but I think that was due to lack of staff as they were lovely but just seemed worked off their feet.

My wife and myself and my son and his partner have used this cafe many times only to find or our visit this week that you now have to use a screen to order food. As a partially sighted person this was extremely difficult for me, Also my son does not use plastic cards but uses cash which presented another difficulty. So it took us ages as a party of 4 to order what we wanted. I have done consultancy work for AgeUk and there are about 3 million people over 65 in the uk who do not have or cannot use a smartphone and I fall into the latter category. AgeUk are petition the Government on this matter. There are other categories of disability which rules out people using a smartphone so about 7% of the population cannot use one. On the tables there was a notice requesting feed back with a QR code which none of us could use. I did notice there were less elderly customers than previously which may be related to the changed method of ordering food -s you are losing customers in my view/ As a party we have no complaints about the food

As supermarket cafes go, Tesco must be rated as one of the best, following some fabulous updates and furnishings, plus a winning range of drinks and meals.

Avocado was over ripe. Should have mentioned it. But traditional bangers and mash ordered by friendnlooked better choice. Friendly staff.
