We'd organised a Christmas dinner party for a large group of friends, and need a venue that could seat up to 14 people. Being Friday evening, we knew it'd be busy wherever we went. However, despite the pub being rammed, we were well looked after and served very quickly and efficiently. Most people stuck to the festive menu, only a few from the normal menu. For pub food, I really enjoyed my prawn cocktail, carved turkey dinner and eaton mess dessert. The price, including drinks was very reasonable. I'd happily go back.

Dreadful. I had calamari to start. Though it had flavour, the batter was in lumps on the plate rather than coating the calamari. I asked for my steak to be cooked as I like it, medium rare. Any catering establishment serving steak should know how to cook steak. It was like leather, The pink if it ever had any was long gone. The meat was dry and extremely chewy . My wife had the same meal and the same experience. I did not complain at the time because we were guests of another couple. To sum up It was very disappointing to say the least, and the chef needs re training in how meat should be cooked.

This place was lovely to visit. The staff were friendly and the food enjoyable. We went for a lunch with our dog. They do allow dogs in the pub, but as it was a decent day we sat outside. You can order using the app and everything was brought to the table. Excellent place to go.

This restaurant was great! We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. I will say that the Eton Mess left a bit to be desired. It was practically just vanilla ice cream. It needed more meringue and fruit etc. And there was a sticky spot on my table. Other than that, it was great. Everyone had a good time, and the food was lovely.

Came in here with friends and family for a sitdown meal and a beer. Very disappointing with the food and portion size. I would say this is not value for money and would say the majority of the surrounding pubs on offer - offer better service and better value for money. Cross house - Freshfield - Grapes I have been in all of these and can say I read the managers comments and they are quite laughable of all the replies on the reviews. Please understand that customers want satisfaction and not to be discredited for their honest personal experiences. Will not be going back back.

Definitely improved since we visited four months ago. Much cleaner, much friendlier, and much tastier. Superb value too.

Visited 13/04, for lunch, the pub wasn't busy and service was quick. The staff were OK, but the blonde hair lady serving food was very pleasant and friendly, we had two dogs with us and they were made very welcome without being over bearing, the food was pleasant and plentiful. The only down was the young girl behind the bar could learn to pull a pint of ale, would of been nice to have a head on it

Was very disappointed today after the reopening, we booked a table for 1pm, my husband and I both ordered roast beef dinner, they had run out of Yorkshire puddings and when it came we asked were was the carrots, reply was oh sorry we've run out of them also. The meal was only just warm, to say we were very disappointed is an understatement, we have eaten there several times in the past and was always lovely. We revisited The Railway yesterday and the food was absolutely lovely will definitely be returning with our dogs, so I now have changed my star rating. Well done
