We had a lovely afternoon tea in Towngate Tearoom for my grandma's birthday. The owners and staff were super friendly and the sandwiches were delicious! Everything is homemade as well. We will definitely come again!
Lovely place, nice staff. Stopped in for a tea and got to relax a bit. Classic British tea experience. Wide selection of pastries as well. I didnt order food but I saw others eating and it looked really good. Can't wait to come in for tea (booked in advance of course).
Hands down, the best Tearoom we have ever been too. Service is impeccable, food is absolutely outstanding! Delicious in fact. Everything we had was clearly all home made. Would go as far to say with lots of care, love and pride too. We definitely will be back, very highly recommended. Outstanding, thank you. We had a nice walk in the area and finding this place really did max out and polish the day off nicely.
We stopped by on a Sunday morning while visiting locally. Forgetting it was Mothering Sunday, most tables were reserved but the host was accommodating to find us a space. We enjoyed a cup of tea & latte to accompany our full breakfast & mushrooms on toast. The drinks were served hot - tea with no fuss of a teapot, just a proper mug! The food was served fresh, hot and prompt even given the busy service and was very reasonably priced. The menu had lots of options serving vegan/vegetarian food too. While we were too full to enjoy a cake, they looked delicious. We really enjoyed our visit here and felt the warmth of the hosts to the guests of the tearoom. If we lived locally we’d definitely return. We followed with a visit to the local Heptonstall Museum.
Gorgeous little place! Had a really nice at atmosphere, staff were really friendly and the food was delicious. We had paninis and hot drinks, and even picked up some cake to takeaway on our way out. Most of the cake options were vegan. I’m not vegan myself but it was nice to see the option being catered for so widely. The lemon & almond cake was also one of the best cakes I’ve ever had. Will absolutely be coming back next time we’re in the village :-)

Wonderful tearoom; amazing food, friendly staff and lovely charm. Can thoroughly recommend the mushroom soup served with a super-cheesy cheese toastie. We also had coffees, a Bailey's hot chocolate and a large slice of cheesecake (eaten before we photographed it..) Looks small from the outside, but there's a bigger seating room inside through to the back. The toilet is in the corridor. You order from the till and food is brought to the table.
We made multiple visits to this friendly and nicely decorated tearoom during a recent stay in the gem of a village that is Heptonstall. We enjoyed tasty breakfast sandwiches on some mornings and on other visits tried a number of the absolutely delicious cakes and tray bakes (taking more away for treats on walks too). The ginger cheesecake is exceptional and the Biscof version not far behind, the tiffin similarly delicious. If we understood correctly, all the sweet treats are made by the owners, this perhaps explains the quality. The staff were always friendly and welcoming making for an all-round lovely experience. Next time I'm sure we'll try something from the large range of take and cook at home meals too, they sound great! We are happy to heartily recommend this café.
Very nice walk up from Hebden Bridge to Heptonstall. Had a nice coffee and cake at Towngate Tearoom. A warm welcome from the attentive staff awaits your arrival. Well worth the walk.
