Most weeks we pop in for a quick and cheap bite to eat. Two friends ordered katsu chicken curry and I had sticky Korean chicken balls. Normally food is OK but this week was awful. The katsu curries were awful and could not be eaten, and my Korean chicken was a mix of chicken nuggets and southern fried chicken strips, with rice and a sauce. Staff were not really interested and said this is how the food should be! Won't be going back in a hurry!

We accidentally got the biggest room, at the top of the building as it was the only one left. It's an interesting climb of 40-odd stairs, in a building that's been regularly modified over hundreds of years. The room was large, with a small secondary glazed window. Lots of original oak beams around the room and in the roof. There was quite a lot of noise in the late evening from people leaving pubs, and traffic, and you can hear the nearby church clock chiming all the quarters and hours. It didn't bother us, but you might want to use ear plugs if you're a light sleeper. Bed was large, warm and comfortable and pillows were excellent. Very clean bathroom and excellent water pressure for a shower. At 9 on a Sunday morning the Wetherspoons pub downstairs was almost full for breakfast. Definitely good value, and very good location. There's limited parking for guests behind the hotel, although we didn't use it.

Went in for breakfast on Sunday morning. Computer systems was down which is fine. But I ordered and paid for breakfast. Waited for about 15 minutes, got up to go to the loo, when I got back someone else took my table. Informed the staff that ive moved and they said quite unwillingly that they'll look into it, never even bothered getting back to me. Long story short - after waiting more than an hour I called it a day and went somewhere else.

I came to the George hotel on the 16th July for a meal with my family and friends, food was great and was in front of us super quick. I was so surprised at how busy the pub was, yet everything was being kept on top of, when people had finished with a table they were cleaned as soon as they could, everyone was so friendly. The lady behind the bar, possibly a manager? Taylor, she went above and beyond and was absolutely amazing, everytime we passed she was always smiling, she was engaging with all the customers and laughing with all the staff and customers. I will be visiting again, and a lot more frequently. Thank you for the great experience.

We popped in for a drink and then returned later for a meal. The food was of a higher quality than you expect for a Wetherspoons- hot and clearly made fresh! What stood out for me was that the bar manager really cared and lead by example here- even when it came to clearing tables. The wind blew some napkins from a plate and instead of leaving it as he was carrying a stack of dishes he put the dishes down to chase the flyaway napkin! Can’t comment on the rooms as we didn’t stay there!

Great hotel, right in the centre close to everything. Upstairs in the hotel the room was small but adequate. Don't know if it was the same in other rooms but bathroom sink very small could only just fit the small travel kettle in to fill it up. Bathroom mirror very low had to bend down to see into it and I'm only just over 5ft. I don't know how my husband shaved as he couldn't see in the mirror as too low. The room we had was next to a staff only room so could hear staff walking past late at night and early in the morning. All staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

Good pub, we popped in on boxing day after walking along the river bank from Arley, had a good breakfast and a warm up. We found the place to be very friendly and welcoming , would recommend a visit

Booked by phone weeks ago for Friday 30th December, for me my wife and daughter, even told my daughter's age over phone , I've called booking 5 times and said no confirmation email received all very rude be with you soon you are booked , luckily for me I've called today to find out 1 adult just me has been booked in so I have had to cancel the last lady I spoken to was very polite but imagine driving an hour and half to be told your family not booked 8n not good enough, when the lady today sent confirmation straight away so the others never bothered

Clean comfortable room and bed, good reasonably powerful shower. The room was small but perfectly suitable for a single. Superb choices and well cooked breakfast and unlimited tea & coffee refills, as for the price it won't be beaten. And a well cooked tasty meal including a beer for under Β£9 what more can be said. Well done Wetherspoons.
