Had a wonderful short stay at The Milner. Loved the building. Staff lovely & friendly in all areas. We stayed in a superior king room & it was very big. Comfy very clean & everything we needed. Bathroom was huge. Great blackout curtains. Had a meal the 1st night in the restaurant which was lovely & breakfast was plentiful with lots of choice. In a great place to visit York, next to train station & a 10min walk into the city centre. Overall would highly recommend.

The Milner is still upto a great standard. Staff are excelent. We were in a front facing superior room. With fantastic views of the Minster. We had a meal last night which was cooked perfectly and the breakfast this morning had a great selection and good quality. We will definely be visiting next Christmas as it is idealy situated for York city centre. Very dog friendly hotel

First time here and truly wowed. The service from reception was very friendly and welcoming and the hotel aurora was superb. Just had a great feel to it and up there with some great hotels. Rooms were nice , clean and comfy. Bar snacks were lovely and breakfast was good. A little gem I would say.

Superb Victorian style hotel right in the centre of York. Wide choice of rooms. As soon as you walk in, you are quickly greeted by a friendly team at reception. Loved the main staircase. The postbox is a lovely touch as it saved us looking for one to post our cards. Room we stayed in was spacious and fresh. The bathroom was immaculate and shower area was well-sealed off from the rest of the bathroom. The colours in the room were relaxing to the eye. Our room overlooked the train station and, despite the sound proofing challenges around graded buildings, we cannot say that we have struggled with excess noise in the room. Breakfast was good and what stood out was the warm reception we have had from Cesar. He is such a breath of fresh air and was very keen on ensuring that we have a hearty breakfast! We also loved the umbrella hire service. We were met by rainy weather during our stay in York and we never fetched an umbrella - so having this option was very welcomed. Looking forward to our next stay!

Great historical hotel. We stayed here four nights and found the room to be very comfortable. Hotel is convenient to train station and a short walk to York Center. Staff very friendly and helpful. Iβd like to give a shout out to Caesar in Peacheyβs who warmly greeted us in the mornings. Breakfast is good with wide selection of hot and cold options. Would definitely stay here again!

Booked for 2 nights which included parking, at Β£30 for 24 hrs I'm glad it was. Great room. The only issue was that the room was warm even though the window was open and left open all weekend. Would stay again in a great location. I had a drink in the lounge. The lovely room felt luxurious.

The Principal was a fantastic hotel to stay in at York and such a great location for exploring the city. The decor inside the hotel was beautiful. Unfortunately the rooms don't have air conditioning but we were provided with a Dyson fan, still the room was very warm in the current heatwave blasting the England! Nevertheless, the downstairs area remained cool and was a lovely vibe for cocktails

I stayed at this hotel for a conference but Iβd be happy to stay there for any reason. The room was perfect, the communal areas were even better. The food was sublime and the catering for the conference was as good as restaurant food. The best thing about this hotel was the staff, they were friendly and attentive. 100% recommend. The car park is a little expensive so plan in advance and donβt get caught out.

Overall quite a good hotel for its price. Great location just next to the train station which is very convenient. House keeping can be improved and rooms are bit dated. Beautiful decorations during the Christmas period. 4 star and not a 5 due to the constant noise in the room and very poor soundproofing.

Well we checked out of this hotel a day early after the first night which I think says it all. Our room was in the basement next to the staff area/quarters. Our view was of a brick wall and the room itself was very average, definitely not like the images on their website. But the worst thing was the noise from the staff going in and out of the area next door. This finished after midnight and started again well before 6am. And each time they went through the door we had a lovely bang which told us about it. We asked for our room to be changed and were told this wasn't possible. In fact the woman on reception was very disinterested and we felt like we were being a hassle for her. We were supposed to be at the races the next day but after very little sleep we were in no mood or state to get dressed up and have our day out, so we left and came home. Amazingly when we checked out and told the young man at reception about the issues, he could then get us a new room but it was too little, too late and we just wanted to get home. Be very careful if you book at this hotel and expect to get some sleep, you may be very disappointed. It looks very nice from the outside but doesn't live up to that in the rooms or with the service.
