My partner and I stayed here for a one night stay, wanting to do some Christmas shopping and go to the Christmas market I have to say the location is great! As for the room, maybe just my personal taste but I didn’t like it, very small and just dark and dingy really. We often stay at the Dakota in Leeds which have fairly dimmed lighting but you can at least adjust it to be able to see to do make up etc. The view from the room was grim! we had a few issues with room service, it was wasn’t dirty as such but just not as clean and tidy as I think it maybe should be for the price point. Food we had was ok, not bad ( the only bad think really was it wasn’t hot ) but I didn’t leave wanting to eat here again in a hurry. Some of the staff I have to say were lovely, very polite and attentive. All in all it was an “ok” stay but will not be booking again.

Hotel is lovely to stay at, however our heated towel rack never worked and the bathroom sink kept getting clogged. We paid for breakfast and every morning we had the rudest staff member every morning, she had messy orange hair with outgrown brown roots. She would always cut us off when we were talking to her. Other than that, every other staff member was super lovely and welcoming! Hotel room was cosy and clean. Did have a great overall experience.

Lovely hotel! The staff on reception were so friendly and helpful. Nothing felt like any bother to them. Rooms are very comfortable, quite compact but has everything you need. We were on the 2nd floor and there can be some noise from the roads and the building works across the way but it didnt keep us up during the night. We booked a club room so we had robes, water in the fridge and plenty of tea and coffee supplies. The waterfall shower was great, good pressure and temperature with a handheld shower too. Bed was pretty firm and comfortable. Couldn't fault anything, and would happily stay again.

Wonderful staff, comfortable surroundings and good facilities with a central location close to the railway station. Special thanks to the super kind Pallavi on reception. You made our stay at the Malmaison, York, extra special. Thank you so much. Room service was excellent and the customer service from Alice & Chloe was top notch. Thank you ladies, you made my night! Breakfast was delicious, especially the vanilla bean yoghurt and granola (wow) some of the best I have ever had. I will want to come back just for another taste of that. Loved my stay here. Wish it was for longer.

I had a great stay at this modern and stylish hotel. My double room was well equipped with a Nespresso machine (with four pods), plenty of coffee sachets, and a good selection of teas. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and I loved the clever touch of the TV hidden behind a sliding piece of artwork. The large windows let in loads of natural light, and the room controls made it easy to adjust the temperature and fan settings. The shower was another highlight — a spacious, low-level shower enclosure with both a rainfall and handheld shower. Water pressure and temperature were excellent. The separate sink and worktop merged just to the side of the bed area was a nice feature. Breakfast was stacked full of self serve continental options as well as orderabke cooked options including a full English, priced at £25 for adults, but it was included with my stay, which made it great value — and it was absolutely delicious. All the staff were friendly and very helpful throughout my stay. The hotel overall is clean, bright, and modern, with a welcoming bar area that’s perfect for relaxing. A great stay

One of the best sleeps I've ever had! Both me and my partner had to ask what type of mattress they use as we are certainly buying one!! Location was brilliant, close enough to walk comfortably but far enough away from the chaos (we went at Christmas time). Definitely would stay again

A great, modern hotel in the centre of York...the perfect walking distance to all the main attractions. Very stylish and clean, the only criticism is the temperature in the rooms...they were too warm. Other than that, a great stay.

Lovely modern and quirky boutique hotel well situated for all York's attractions and amenities. We had a club room which was nice. The room had everything you could need with tea, coffee, water, biscuits, hairdryer, iron and fridge. Shower excellent with overhead or wall option. Massive flat screen tv with sky package that includes all sports. Air conditioning could also be controlled. Breakfast was excellent quality and the bar well stocked.

Visiting York for the weekend and we chose Malmaison as I had stayed at the Leeds site and loved it. Could not have been happier with the room or the location. Situated 5 mins from the train station, it was perfect! The lobby was stunning and the staff were extremely helpful. There is even a very cool touch screen vending maching for any items you may have forgotten to bring, which I thought was a great addition. We loved the spacious club room which had the biggest bathroom I have seen in a hotel and a sleeping area separated from the main living area by a partition. It was perfect for what we needed and we slept amazingly well with a cool breeze on one of the hottest days ever. We opted for the inclusive 3 course meal and it was just stunning. One of the best meals I have had at a hotel. The service at both dinner and breakfast was fabulous and I wish I had taken the persons name as she was amazing. If we visit York again, we will definitely be staying at the Malmaison. Drinks in the bar were expensive but there are so many bars on the doorstep you can pick and chose where you go for the evening. Highly recommend.

The staff could do not enough to ensure a pleasant stay, from the warm welcome at check in, service with breakfast and dinner, to general interactions and passing comments in the hallways. Everyone was friendly and willing to go the extra mile to deliver the best service. Coupled with clean, modern, comfortable rooms well appointed with kettle, iron, TV, lovely bed, air conditioning and more, I wish every hotel delivered this standard.
