Location is perfect you are right in the middle, lady on the desk wasnt the nicest, but the rooms were spacious and considering your in the centre, the noise outside doesn't effect you too much! Lovely stay!

Checked in for 4 nights. Room smelled damp, and stains on the chair. It also must have been below a storage space because all night there were voices and people moving things upstairs. Maintenance work started at 7am like hammering and drilling etc. Also, my room key stopped working every time I left the hotel. This meant I couldn’t leave without having to come back and ask for a new one - this is so tedious, especially when nobody is one reception. Breakfast was great and location is perfect, plus staff are quite nice and friendly.

We stayed for a few nights & paid £111 per night for our room, which was quite expensive, and for that, I would have at the very least expected the room to be clean, however, we found a large toenail on the bathroom floor and a dried up contact lens next to the bed. Our TV didn't work and you only get 30mins wifi for free. Our inner window was broken/loose at the latch meaning the window wasn't soundproof, so the noise of people coming out of the nightclub - which is opposite the hotel FYI - in the early hours was very loud. The receptionist said that the maintenance man was on site and would attend to it. Nobody came and nobody let us know. When I asked why none of our party had a hairdryer the response was “First and Second floor rooms don’t get hairdryers. Only the Third floor” which was almost comical. I managed to get some from the receptionist, but had to go out of my way. We asked for a top up of towels and tea and never got it. We ordered food at the downstairs bar and restaurant for dinner one night. There was one member of staff on duty & she was flummoxed by the till and took a long time to ring in just one order which meant there was a backlog. The food then took absolutely ages and when it arrived it was warm rather than hot. The “Keralan Cocount Curry” was at best a packet Tikka Masala with no evidence of coconut. It seemed quite a challenge to get cutlery as well. I have stayed in Travelodge Hotels many times, but this is by far the worst I have ever stayed in. The thing it has going for it is it's location - which is great.

Helpful & friendly staff. Very clean room. Well stocked coffee machine. Large comfy bed. One of the best hotel experiences I've had. The price was very good ( I've stayed in hotels at triple the price & they can't compete with this one ).

Excellent position for central York. Staff friendly and helpful, great room and coffee pod machine , bathroom clean and adequate with fluffy towels. comfy clean bed , excellent breakfast. 2 points of warning, parking charges at nearest car park expensive for 24hr although you do get a discount. And if you are engaging in bedroom activities please be aware that your neighbours and along the corridor can hear you !!

Was a bit worried after reading the reviews but had a great stay here. Asked for a quiet room and was given a room at the back overlooking the car park. There was a vent from a nearby restaurant right outside which was noisy, but was off before 11 each night. Did hear other guests on one night but other than that no noise problems, rarely heard traffic and couldn’t hear the nightclub. The hotel is just brilliantly located for everything central.

I stay in a lot of Travel-lodges across the UK for work. It’s fair to say this one is in a good location and the bar area is nice. The bathroom in the room I had (a super double?) was decent and there was a decent chair and wardrobe. Unfortunately that’s where the positives end. On checking in the lovely receptionist told me the room was the quietest in the hotel, it turned out this wasn’t quite true as it’s over a bus stop and a nightclub and on a busy road so there was lots of loud noise right throughout the night. There was a nice coffee maker in the room but I avoided using it as it, and the tea tray, and kettle were thick with dust. The remote control was filthy, the skirting boards were incomplete exposing wires and there was dust/much on several other surfaces. Breakfast was appalling, there were none of the usual warm lights to keep the trays of food warm so cold cooked breakfast was the order of the day. On day two we paid to eat breakfast elsewhere! Definitely would not stay again.

Hotel is in a great location very clean but needs updating. Rooms basic, carpets a little stained other than that did the job found the beds very comfortable. Room had a great shower but H&S wise should've had a slip mat. There's a sign up even telling you to be careful as it's slippy. Reception staff too busy chatting with each other rather than acknowledging guests coming and going. Breakfast a great variety for the price. A mixture of continental and hot food. Staff were nice but no one explained the procedure. Could've done with trays to carry your food and drinks to the table. Felt I was up and down for various things. The orange juice was concentrated from a machine which tasted watery. Slept at the front of the hotel. Second night was a lot of Freshers out and about enjoying themselves but after we closed the window we never heard a thing.
