Location - great, 10 mins walk to York. Staff - friendly and super efficient, a pleasure to see a team working so well on a very busy breakfast shift - much better than many large corporate chain hotels we have stayed in. Breakfast - decent breakfast with a good range of options. Room - good size, very clean and warm. Parking - very reasonable price for parking in York. Stay again - definitely. Value - very good. Recommend - absolutely. Overall - spot on, far better than many places we've stayed in.

I did not have a pleasant stay at this hotel. The rooms are mediocre at best: very basic and clearly in need of renovation (rotting window frames, poor and dirty sealing in the bathroom). What bothered me even more was the presence of an unfriendly and rude woman on staff. Instead of greeting guests with a friendly “good morning” or welcoming them to breakfast, she simply barks, “Room number?!” She is constantly stressed about the tables (there are too few breakfast tables for the number of guests). While you are still eating, she pressures you to leave so others can take your place. The breakfast itself was also very disappointing. There is no buffet, only a very limited menu. The only somewhat healthy option is the porridge, which is extremely plain and served without any fruit. When we asked for fruit, we were practically laughed at, so on the following days we brought fruit from the supermarket ourselves. To be fair, all the other staff members were very friendly, and the location of the hotel is excellent, within a short walking distance of the city centre. Despite these positives, the overall experience was disappointing. Won’t recommend and won’t come back!

Hi. Me and my brother stayed here last night. It is a lovely place to stay and the location is perfect! When we arrived at 1pm and check in is at 3pm, no problem. We asked if we could store a few things and were told, I prefer if you don't by staff. I did not get his name but he was on the front desk. We did not find him welcoming, friendly or warm in any way. When we returned later the lady who was on the front desk was the opposite. She was great, helpful and very welcoming and warm. The breakfast was great and the staff who served us were lovely! I was also shocked to be charged to park our car. Thanks for a pleasant stay.

Very bad experience. We were running a bit late and called them to let them know, the lady on the phone was very angry, treating us very bad, saying to rush. When we got there, the same lady was in reception, still very angry for us getting a little bit later. She told us we had to contact them to let them know we are coming with a dog even if we did selected on the booking. This is not the problem, we understood they their policy, the whole problem was her attitude, very rude! We checked in, and the next morning at breakfast same lady, not even saying hello, just rude again. When we try to leave they told us about paying extra for the dog and car park. On the website it s not a price for the car park, it says a random number and nobody at the reception tells you about the price. Again not a problem about their prices and the fact they want to charge you, the problem was nobody telling you about it, they just surprise you when you try to leave and they start shouting at you to pay. Need to check on that lady at reception because she was one of the rudest person we ever met. But big thank you for the 2 girls in the restaurant, they were very nice and friendly, brought the dog food and water. very good customer service only from those 2, the only good part of this stay!

A wonderful stay. Will definitely go again as it was convenient shops and the minster. It had a ramp on the outside which took you to the bedroom wish was nice although the bed was on the small side and quite high. The breakfast was good but it could have done with a few more fruits and muesli type, continental style breakfast.

My partner and I stayed here in February. The staff are very friendly, the rooms are lovely and it is a 5-10 minute walk from the centre. It has a homely feel, and is very clean and fresh. I have stayed in a few places in York previously and this is now my favourite. We will be definitely returning. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We stayed in room number 23 for one night in December 22. The room was spacious and quiet. However, there was no hot water and the shower was making a dreadful noise. When we approached the manager the next day, they didn’t seem liked they cared. Their answer was, you should have called someone, and we could have fixed it. I did not want to call someone at 2am, so we had to put up with this. The manager said that this is a regular occurrence, and it sometimes happens every three days to every three months. My suggestion would be, to rectify this problem, before a guest stays over night. Free parking was offered, which was taken up a gesture of good will. However, I had to push for this. Overall, good location, but have stayed in better within the town.

Just returned from overnight stay in York a party of 7 ladies at the b and b Hotel. Hotel is located about 20 minutes leisurely stroll from centre. Located in a quiet street andis beautifully decorated and very clean. Excellent breakfast and free tea coffee and water through out the day. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We all said we had never stayed in a hotel were the staff were so friendly. Would definitely stay there again.
