“Amazing experience from booking through to receiving my scan results. My GP refused me a scan on my foot and ankle after I was given 4 diagnosis from physio and GP but not seeing an improvement in my condition. So I booked with ultrasound direct to pay privately to see what was going on with my foot and ankle. I was given a warm welcome at york and the scan was completed quickly and I now have a definitive diagnosis to work with....albeit something none of the physio or GP considered! Really happy with ultrasound direct and I wouldn't hesitate to return in future if I needed to.”

“It was wet(again). We had the grandkids. They needed to burn some energy. An ideal spot. Plenty of equipment but beware of other children. Some can be using parts which are too old for them.”

Mr. Chitsabesan and the whole team were fantastic — professional, kind, and reassuring throughout. Nurse Tori Rosheen was especially helpful and patient, answering all my questions with a smile. Moxy York immediately stood out with its fun, urban, and modern vibe. The downstairs area is full of character, decorated with eye-catching urban art, hanging pod chairs, plenty of selfie spots, and even a photobooth complete with dress-up hats and caps. The luggage carts by the entrance were incredibly helpful when we arrived with multiple suitcases. The overall first impression was stylish, energetic, and welcoming. Cleanliness & Safety Concerns
The hotel was clean throughout — from the reception area to the lifts and guest rooms. The lifts are secure and won’t operate until you scan your room key, which we appreciated as an added safety feature. CCTV inside the lifts added an extra layer of reassurance. The bathrooms, both in the public areas and our room, were spotless, and the baby-changing facilities downstairs were spacious with a wide sliding door that easily accommodates a pram. Food Quality
Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of hot and cold options, good coffee, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, and a variety of juices. Gluten-free options were clearly available, and we loved the sign that mentioned vegetarian sausages cooked to order—just ask a staff member. Everything was well stocked and fresh. The bar also served well-priced soft drinks, and we appreciated the free pints of cold ice water when requested. Ambience & Surroundings
The ambience at Moxy York is playful and modern, with thoughtful design details such as bright pink filler used deliberately to highlight cracks in the concrete floor—turning something ordinary into part of the décor. There’s a beer garden, a pool table, books, board games, magazines like Empire, and even a free retro Street Fighter arcade machine. Everywhere you look, there’s something creative or fun. The hotel feels lively yet relaxing, perfect for groups, couples, families, and students alike. Service & Atmosphere
Every member of staff we interacted with was polite, friendly, and eager to help. The front-desk team created such a welcoming environment. We loved the gesture of a free cocktail or mocktail each on arrival. They even had special offers like a 20% student discount and a free mimosa for graduates on the day we visited. Dog owners will appreciate the custom stand at reception with water bowls for both large and small dogs. Small touches like free cucumber water at the bar and umbrellas available to rent added to the sense that Moxy pays attention to guest comfort. Facilities

Bathroom amenities including shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, and body wash The room was quiet with no banging or noise from other floors, leading to a very peaceful night’s sleep — something not all hotels manage successfully. Although there is no on-site car park, there is a Q-Park nearby and several other parking options within walking distance via parking apps. Signing up for Marriott Bonvoy is worthwhile too, as it makes Wi-Fi sign-in quicker and lets you collect points. Overall

“Ideal location for our needs visiting family in York. Decent sized room with very comfortable beds. The shower room smelled fusty (as it did on a previous visit. I think it's a drain issue). Good buffet breakfast with a good choice of hot food. Free parking.”

“I 'phoned the hotel a few days before my planned stay in order to request a few things. I was extremely fortunate to have my call answered by Eliana (I hope that I have spelled this lady's name correctly). No-one could possibly have been more friendly, helpful nor intuitive. She was offering us extras for our room before I even had the chance to ask! Amazing! In fact, once we arrived, we found that the whole team was fantastic! Fortunately, our room was not one which Premier Inn has refurbished and so still retained its large desk and useful wardrobe. The free Wi-Fi was fast enough to stream YouTube at all times and the hotel is conveniently located upon York's ring road but only a short drive from the city centre.”

“I had a lovely stay at The Grange Lodge in York. The location is perfect—peaceful and tucked away, yet just a short walk from the heart of the city. It was the ideal base for exploring York’s historic streets. What really stood out, though, was the room service: consistently prompt, thoughtful, and delivered with a genuine warmth that made the experience feel truly welcoming. “A bit out of town because of the “nothing higher than the Minster” rules in York. A bugger to travel to from the centre. Saw - I SCREAM - excellent film. The whole place for a Wednesday night was a bit deadsville gulch.”

“We use the Leeds East hotel regularly but our visit this weekend was a really great experience. Young man on reception was very welcoming and professional. A special mention to the lady who put some treats in my daughters room as she heard it was my granddaughters 2nd birthday. What a lovely touch. And finally the lady in the breakfast room who was so lovely with my young granddaughters giving them a chocolate biscuit and a balloon each. This service was really welcomed so thankyou all and apologies I didn’t get names of the people who really made a difference.”

“Went here on my day trip to York and the food was absolutely delicious. Came out piping hot and plated beautifully. The service was also extraordinary and the waitstaff went out of their way to make me and my friends feel accommodated. This restaurant truly captures the essence of a family owned business and feels like a warm hug.”

“Canny little place to stay, self contained/ self catering accommodation, has everything you need. Really cheap considering there is cooker, washer/ dryer, microwave, fridge, tv,WiFi and more and obviously bed, wardrobe etc and your bathroom. Staff and owner are extremely pleasant and helpful and the owner will go out of his way to accommodate you. Self check in, with info messaged to you on the day nearer the time of check in. It's a real easy process. City centre is only a few minutes drive or an easy short bus/ taxi ride. I've stayed here a few times and will continue to book here when I'm in Leeds.”
