“We had an absolutely wonderful stay at No.1 Guest House in York. We mentioned we were visiting for my partner’s birthday, and to our surprise they double upgraded us—such a thoughtful touch that immediately set the tone for a special weekend. The room we were given was beautiful, spotlessly clean, and lovely and spacious, with all the details that make a stay feel genuinely luxurious. We’d previously stayed at No.15 in Bath and loved it, which is exactly why we decided to try No.1 in York. It absolutely lived up to the reputation—warm service, gorgeous surroundings, and that same signature charm that makes you feel instantly at home. A truly memorable stay from start to finish. Highly recommended, and we can’t wait to return!”

“Beautiful hotel, very close to train station and a short walk from the main shopping area of York. We had a lovely visit, and most of the staff were very courteous, welcoming and friendly. The room was well presented and we had a very comfortable bed. It is a higher priced hotel and you could see the attention to detail and little touches that made it special. We were slightly disappointed that we didn't receive the same warm level of greeting as other guests. It was a stay we'd saved for and had looked forward to very much. It was obvious they had regulars, which is fantastic and means the hotel gets it right as a general rule. But it would have been nice if we'd had a little conversation with the check-in member. The couple being checked in next to us were being asked very general questions like where they'd travelled from, creating a little conversation, but we didn't get the same; just a hello and asked about what card we wanted to put on file for incidentals and then silence. I did attempt to make a little polite conversation with the receptionist but it was clear that they were not interested. It made us feel a little awkward. Asking simple customer service questions makes guests feel welcome and at ease, which we didn't experience at that point. On checking out it was better; we were asked if we'd enjoyed our visit to York, where we were going back to, etc. It made us feel more welcome, even though we were checking out. All in all though, our check in experience hasn't put us off booking in again at some point. Chances are it was an exception to their usual level of service.”

“Thought I'd try out a new nail place closer to home. I was seen as soon as I walked through the door. Showed them a picture of what I wanted but with different colours, and they did not disappoint. I was also given a loyalty card upon leaving, so I will definitely be going back.”

“Absolutely amazing stay. Beautiful cozy bedroom with the comfiest of beds, slept brilliantly on both nights. The spa was fantastic. Treatments were the best and staff amazing at what they do. Definitely worth a mention. Gary who works front desk at spa makes the place. He is a huge asset. Very welcoming and friendly. He deserves the best review. Hope he gets to see this. We are going through a lot at the moment and Gary went above and beyond for us. He is funny and attentive. Made us laugh and smile and we felt very relaxed and can’t thank him enough.”

“Wonderful afternoon of relaxation and pampering. On arrival the young gentleman on reception was fab. Kind and most helpful explaining about what to expect, booking us in, showing us where to go snd generally just really welcoming. Swimming pool and steam room were great then on to the relaxation room. We went a little early so we had time to enjoy the warming beds. Room was nice (speakers a bit tinny with the music which buzzed a smidge). Then into our treatment room. Ladies were really respectful and welcoming. We had a Swedish massage and a facial. Absolutely fantastic! So relaxing and really thorough. Couldn't fault my day at all. Finished it off with one of the cafes smoothies. Also tasty. Thank you all.”

“I only signed up this week so it’s difficult to comment on what it’s going to be like long term, but so far? What a place, honestly I’ve looked forward to coming every single day, class gym despite it being upstairs and relatively small, modern and up to date, friendly yet professional staff and the pool facilities are brilliant. At this price point Roko is a pure hidden gem in York.”

“I had a consultation recently with Mr Smith re: upper blepharoplasty. I had wanted this procedure done for many years and had taken lots of time to research clinics anf surgeons. The clinic was very calm and reception staff very welcoming. I found Mr Smith to be very professional, approachable, and personable. He fully explained the procedure and risks/healing journey. After assessing me, he explained he didn't recommend the procedure for me currently and explained the reasons why I wasn't really suitable. Although I was disappointed, (and still am!) as I wasn't expecting that outcome, and had finally plucked up the courage to book a consultant, I appreciated his honesty and sense of professional responsibility and ethical standards. I will definitely book into Coppergate again in the future if I'm considering any other procedures.”

“I’ve tried a few places in York for lash extensions and biab nails but YLB is by far the best, lashes are gorgeous, they last and look wispy just how I asked for them. Nails are a dream, always a professional finish and never lift, thank you Sarah! There’s always a welcoming atmosphere from all the girls too so would definitely recommend them :)”
