Such a disappointing birthday dinner for my husband. When booking, I left notes asking for a birthday cake to be brought to my husband as a surprise after dinner. In addition, I spoke to the server directly upon arrival to make sure that they would not forget about my husband's birthday. In the end, they DID forget and brought nothing for my husband. So disappointing and unprofessional. The food was okay, but the service was horrible. How can such a simple, but important, request be ignored?

Absolutely amazing venue that was perfect for our wedding. All the events team, especially Jess, were great and nothing was ever too much at every step. All our guests said how great the food and rooms were. We visited a few times for dinner through the planning process and we'll definitely keep coming back.

The second I walked into the Maynard I knew we had to have our wedding there. The whole team have excellent communication from the original booking process, smooth transitions and organisation from the morning getting ready to the end of the day and the food was beautiful. We live in Thailand so have been planning the wedding from abroad but the team at the Maynard have been accommodating with communication, online meetings and answering 1 million questions and requests from me via email. Do not hesitate to book your wedding here, you will not regret it!

Stayed here for a wedding that was taking place at this venue and what a lovely time me and my partner had, came a day early and had dinner at the restaurant and the food was fantastic and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating if they tried, will forever be dreaming of that salmon scotch egg. The bar was also very nice and had a cosy vibe with plenty of seating for couple or groups, with good options for known beers and local options aswell. The room was very spacious and looked over the gardens. Overall would absolutely stay here again should we ever have an event nearby or a walk planned.

Absolutely wonderful two-night stay at The Maynard. The location is perfect for walks, and Chatsworth House is only a short drive away. The room was lovely - very clean and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were very tasty, and so was the afternoon tea. I have coeliac disease so can only eat gluten free food, and The Maynard was able to offer a huge variety of gluten-free options, prepared without cross-contamination (the owner has coeliac disease, so they are very aware of the correct processes). Thank you very much to the staff - Grace and colleagues were friendly and professional! I would definitely recommend staying here and enjoying the fantastic food and surroundings.

Dropped in for a quick lunch while walking in the area. Nicely decorated restaurant with great views over the valley. The garden tables must be fantastic in the summer. I had the club sandwich which was definitely one of the best I've had. Quality ingredients and well seasoned. My partner had a hoi sin smoked salmon and noodle salad, which was also full of flavour and well-balanced. The wine list has a good range of wines from around £20/bottle to £100 (both red and white). Service was efficient and friendly. Will definitely be back!

My niece's wedding was here. The atmosphere was great, the staff friendly and helpful. It has a lift, so people with mobility problems can get to the upper floor. The food was lovely, the garden is attractive and the views of the Peak District fantastic. There is parking, including disabled bays. The staff at the Maynard made my niece's special day memorable and thoroughly enjoyable! I'm planning on taking a friend there, as I know she will love it. Highly recommended.

Our Maynard experience was delightful the Hotel has so much character and charm. Professional, Friendly, helpful Staff nothing too much trouble and when problems did arise the staff performed superbly to resolve them. We had a minor problem with our room but were very quickly upgraded to another which we were very happy with. Food was excellent both Evening meal and Breakfast. We will be revisiting next year with one of our car clubs, can't wait.. Oh and such a lovely area. Fantastic value. A massive thank you to ALL the staff and Owners for such a wonderful stay.

Stayed for one night + dinner - Main thing we were really impressed with was the service from both the hotel staff and at the restaurant, accommodating, lovely and competent. Great combo! Dinner was delightful, beef short ribs for me crispy duck duo for my wife, bottle of wine and a cocktail. We felt that on balance it was all really good value. If we were to offer some constructive criticism we would say that the duck skin wasn’t crispy. Too small an issue to knock a star off in our opinion and easily rectified. Would 100% stay here again.
