   Wonderful guest house, wonderful host. The suite we stayed in was roomy and incredibly comfortable, as well as being very clean. Nice big bathroom, with bath and shower, and everything you would hope to find. Breakfast was excellent, and didn’t have to wait long at all. It’s not the easiest place to get to, but it’s in the Peaks, so you should expect a few steep roads. Having said that, the view is stunning, so worth it! I would not hesitate to recommend this wonderful place.

   Great all round, welcome, prices competitive, lovely rooms, good local traditional breakfast. Wonderful views across the valley. The steep drive up the twisty turning hill a challenge but made on a normal car. Outside table chairs with canopy also looks across the valley. Second visit. Pictures of local walks, including Dovedale a drive away worth it.

   Stayed two years running now, bike trip to Donington super bikes. Lovely breakfast, comfortable rooms, owners really lovely people, secure parking as it's right out of the way. Very steep hill if you're not a confident driver be aware

   We stayed in the Derwent Suite at the Gables b&b for our wedding anniversary. We return every year and are never dissapointed. Beautiful, clean room with an amazing view, great location within walking distance to Matlock, delicious and well cooked breakfast using locally sourced ingredients and friendly and helpful owners who always welcome us warmly. I would highly recommend staying here!

   We stayed in the suite from July 24th to July 29th 2022, the room was faultless, everything replaced when used all freshly done, excellent decor, large bathroom with walk-in shower, free standing bath, ample hot water, plenty of storage space, very large window with lovely panoramic views of the heights of Abraham cable cars., pretty gardens sitting out table and seating terrace. Excellent cooked breakfast every morning thanks to John and Sue the best hosts I’ve ever met they really make you feel at home as soon as you land to when you leave, many thanks for that John and Sue. You definitely provide a 5 Star Stay Totally. Very Comfortable Kingsize Bed. Would definitely recommend this Quality Guesthouse, and without hesitation definitely STAY AGAIN.    Lovely stay in the Derwent suite for a few nights. The room is really spacious, it gets cleaned every day, it has a lovely bath and views. The hosts are very friendly and made us a lovely breakfast every morning. We did not have a car and you can walk to both Matlock and Matlock Bath which is a lovely walk (be mindful of the steep climb on the way back though!). Definitely recommend :)
