   The stuff of this store have discrimination to Asian people, the security guard mistook innocent people to past shop lifter, and the manager still accompanied with me during the whole shopping experience although after i proved my innocence, and asked me to print a receipt for permission to leave, they are actually poor racists

   Caution! Chinese customer please don't go there. had an extremely upsetting experience at this M&S Foodhall in Selly Oak. ( some other people in Chinese community also have similar experience )Upon entering the store, I was stopped by a security guard who wrongly claimed that I had previously shoplifted with others and was on a “ban list.” He was adamant, even though I had not been to the store in over a week, and accused me without showing any evidence—just based on facial recognition, which is both inaccurate and discriminatory. I requested to speak with the manager, who eventually reviewed the footage and confirmed I had not been involved in any wrongdoing. Only then was I allowed to enter. After purchasing two bottles of drinks and showing the receipt, the guard finally let me go, but without any apology or accountability for the humiliation I endured. The whole experience felt like racial profiling, and left me feeling deeply embarrassed and angry. As a paying customer and a student living in the area, I expect to be treated with basic respect and fairness, not suspicion and hostility. M&S, please train your staff—especially security—to handle such situations more professionally, and not to assume guilt based on appearance. This was not just a mistake; it was a deeply damaging and humiliating experience.

   I don’t usually leave reviews for supermarkets unless there’s something to complain about, but this time it’s the complete opposite. I’ve been shopping at M&S FOOD for nearly 20 years & never felt the need to write a review, but their cookies deserve it. Honestly, they are the best cookies I’ve ever had. They come in three flavours, classic choc chip, triple choc and oat The triple choc are my go-to. They’re unbelievably tasty, rich, & baked to perfection. Recently, they released a new filled range, hazelnut chocolate, raspberry cheesecake & pistachio. They’re good, but nothing beats the original cookies! Now for the warning! These cookies turn people into contestants on Supermarket Sweep. The moment they hit the shelves it’s chaos, trolleys crashing, people diving like it’s the Olympics, & that one person pretending to browse while secretly guarding the last pack. If you don’t get there early, you’ll be left standing in the crumbs wondering what just happened. Good Luck!!

   I never leave reviews, however on this occasion, here is one. I shop in whatever store is close and convenient to me, but on the few occasions that I find myself in an M&S branch, the staff and atmosphere is noticeably more friendly, welcoming and helpful. Great Service.

   I think alot of M&S food is absolutely delicious. This store is a good size and in a great location. I guess my problem is with one member of staff who clearly believes that she is never wrong. We tried to buy an item that was very clearly marked at one price. Once taken to the till we had a small disagreement about this price. Eventually led to us showing the staff member in question the label, which she promptly removed in front of us an denied it was ever there....

   Great store with a huge variety of vegetarian food. The staff are extremely helpful and wonderful to speak to when needing assistance. The store itself is tidy and well kept. Will definitely shop here more often! xx
