    Wish I could give it a zero! I’m writing to raise a serious complaint regarding our recent experience with your store, which has not only caused distress but has also led to the unnecessary death of a pet due to what I can only describe as severe negligence. We initially purchased two rats from your store, which were incorrectly sexed as males. It was later confirmed they were in fact female. This basic error raises serious concerns about the training and knowledge of your staff, especially considering the risks of mis-sexing rats including unwanted pregnancies and stress-related health issues. When the issue was brought to your attention, the solution offered was two free male rats. However, we had to push for this resolution rather than it being offered as a matter of course. Even more concerning, no medical or health checks were conducted on the new rats before they were handed over to us. Just five days later, one of the new male rats became seriously unwell. A veterinary examination revealed a severe respiratory infection, and the vet strongly recommended euthanasia to prevent further suffering. The rat was put to sleep the same day in your store... When my wife raised this with your store manager, we were told: “We can give you another one, but we have to draw a line.” Frankly, this response is unacceptable. To be clear: 1. Your staff mis-sexed the original rats, which could have had wider consequences for other customers if females were unknowingly sold as males. 2. We had to initiate the complaint resolution and were not proactively offered a suitable solution. 3. Replacement rats were not health-checked, and as a result, one has already died within a week of being in our care. The dismissive attitude from management has left us deeply disappointed and our two young children distraught. This isn't just about poor customer service — it's about animal welfare and accountability. We expect a full investigation into this matter and a response that goes beyond simply offering another replacement and assurance that changes will be made to staff training and animal care protocols are the least that should be done. If this is not sorted properly we will also be reporting this case to relevant animal welfare authorities and review platforms, so that other potential customers are made aware of the risks.

    For such a big store in a big place they stock very little. Shame really. I dont usually go into pets at home but needed something for ny dog. They never had it. Probably wont go back, find it a little overpriced. Staff were very helpful though.

    Pretty good but the stock was a bit disorganised. Buying a dog coat. They could have been better displayed with perhaps a sizing chart. I had measured my dog at home, but the coats didn't display measurements. Bought one too large and had to go back - with dog - to exchange and try one on. That said I did get one as the photo will attest.

    Wouldn't sell a hamster as we didn't buy our cage from them. This is despite showing a picture our our very happy (sadly deceased, 2 year old hamster) enjoying our cage's many levels and tubes. The stated reason, 'Syrian Hamsters like to burrow, and a Dwarf could squeeze through the bars'. This is absolute rubbish, the cage was supplied as a hamster cage and supplemented with an additional hamster stack. One upset 7 year old, two parents who will not shop at Pets at Home again.
