   Kaptain Karaage has been our go-to spot for years, and for good reason. It’s not just home to the most incredible karaage chicken in Edinburgh—it’s hands down the best chicken I’ve ever had in my life. I’d even go as far as saying the pizzas are the best I’ve had in Edinburgh and that’s not even their specialty! Don’t overlook their drinks either, he does an excellent pornstar martini. Balraj and his team pour genuine care and passion into every dish they create, and you can truly taste that love in every bite. Whether you’re an Edinburgh local or just visiting, you have to try Kaptain Karaage. This restaurant isn’t just a place to eat—it’s an experience. Over the years, we’ve shared so many joyful moments here that it holds a truly special place in my heart. Honestly, we even joke that their karaage would be our ultimate “death row meal”—and we mean it. These photos are just a selection of some of the incredible meals we’ve enjoyed here over the years and the quality has never faltered. It’s consistent, comforting, and always extraordinary.

   THE BEST fried chicken I’ve ever had. Okonomiyaki on the menu which I’ve not seen on menus anywhere outside of Japan so far. They do huge pizzas too which look delicious. Fun and relaxed place to hang out. Good and drinks CHEAP drinks menu. Really interesting looking cocktails I’ve not seen before. I’m looking forwards to coming back. Every so often I like to treat myself to a little meal on my own. Nice to sit in the corner watching Naruto. I noticed families eating there as well as some other solo customers who sat at the bar, the staff were all cheerful and friendly without exception. Seems like a cool place to hang. The vibes were immaculate. They also cater to veggies. I’ve been searching high and low for a Japanese/chicken place. Really authentic food, lovely atmosphere, huge portions and unbelievably good prices. It’s well worth the minuscule 2 minute walk away from the main drag where the restaurants are all either over priced and/or quite shoddy. I can’t recommend this place enough I’m so happy I’ve found it. Thanks guys :)

   We visited here twice a day!! My kids love his food!! It is the best chicken in Edinburgh. Highly recommend! They'd love Kobayashi dog also! The owner gave free two pocketmon ball cookies and pocketmon cards for my kids. Very generous service!!

   Kaptain Karaage surreptitiously hides itself at the small corner at W tollcross offering the famous takeaway chicken karaage and others The owner is very friendly and the food is pretty quick. I taste the first bite there and it’s impressively crispy and the seasonings add flavour to the next level. The crispy fries there taste also great as well As it’s only takeaway menu when I arrive back to my place to enjoy the rest, the fries easily become soggy and stale. The chicken is still in great condition. please taste some when it serves hot I think you will love it.

   On yesterday of 22nd January, my wife and I wanted to eat Okonomiyaki. So, we visited to buy it as Takeaway. It was so nice. We remembered Japanese Okonomiyaki. We lived Kansai area. This area’s people love Okonomiyaki, Takoyaki, and Yakisoba noodle. We say these all foods call Konamon. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Thank you! On 24th December, my wife and I visited this wee shop to buy Okonomiyaki and Chicken Karage. Both meals were very good. All staffs were very kind. Looking forward to taking away again soon. Thank you!
