This was our second Christmas stay. 3 years ago Christmas Day was pretty chaotic but overall we enjoyed our stay so much that we were quite happy to go back. The room, the service, the staff, the restaurant was excellent. Christmas Day service from Buddy The Elf (Cosmin), Alessandro (Alex) and *all* the staff in the restaurant was superb. I rarely write reviews and am accustomed to moaning about lack of service these days so feel duty bound to say a really big thank you given that we were so well looked after by everyone at The Hotel du Vin Bristol City. Thank you Phillip Phillip & Peter Christmas 2025

Visited the Bistro for their Sunday Lunch at £39.99 per head. The highlight being the market table which has a good variety of salads, charcuterie and fresh bread. But unfortunately the main courses were poorly executed, the meats were bland and turkey was dry. The service was also sporadic from the Reception team who did not provide any advice on parking to the gentlemen at the front desk/bar with an unwelcoming and abrupt tone. The other wait staff were pleasant but overall very slow - the table next to us ordered their desserts after us and received their desserts first.

This was our first stay with this hotel, and it was excellent! We booked for a two-night stay to celebrate our anniversary. Arrived on the Friday afternoon, a little early, so we were going to see if we could just drop our suitcase and pop out for a while. The weather was a bit foul, so we were very pleased to be told that our room was ready, so we were able to check in immediately. We just had a standard double, and it was more than enough for our needs. Very spacious room, big inviting bed and one of the nicest hotel bathrooms I have encountered for a while. Very large bathroom, with roll top bath and a walk-through shower! I have mobility issues and there is a step up into the shower but there was a bar/handle on the wall and a non-slip mat, so I felt very secure getting in and out. The products supplied were also top notch. Unusually, for a UK hotel, they also had a fridge in the room that was usable and had a carafe of complimentary water. A nice touch. The bed was lovely, and I had such a good sleep. We had pre-booked dinner in the restaurant as it was a Friday night. Dinner was lovely and our wait staff were very friendly and professional. Couldn’t be faulted. Of course, we also made use of the hotel bar, on a few occasions. All the staff were a joy, and the bar staff were extremely knowledgeable on the beers, wines and ports on offer, and I appreciated their recommendations. They also did a lovely range of cocktails we were happy to try. The bar offers a very decent bar food menu, which we sampled on the Saturday, again, the food here was excellent. There were quite a few people having afternoon tea and whilst we did not partake, it looked excellent! If we are ever back in Bristol, we will certainly be booking to stay here and have no hesitation in recommending it. Well done to the management for building such a special team. From the housekeeping staff to front of house, bar & restaurant, everyone that we encountered were lovely and an asset to the hotel. Top marks all round.

Went for a dinner here. Honestly terrible for vegans vegetarians and gluten free. The service was great but the menu options were very poor. They brought out some beautiful doughy bread and then the gluten free option was essentially seeded toast. Some dishes (ratatouille) tasted good but gave a few of us stomach pain. Fries were good. The onion soup was bland apparently and other food was fine - those without dietary requirements didn’t really say anything about how great their food was but no one complained too much. Unfortunately poor menu choice and thought put into those with dietary requirements and those without dietary requirements were not blown away, so overall not really worth the money

Very comfortable, clean room, with an excellent bathroom. Staff were very kind and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay overall. The only downside was the temperature: we went in late December and the heating was on so high in the building that we had to have the AC on in our room all night to be able to sleep. It's great to have it warm for guests, but not *that* warm! Hopefully this can be sorted. I doubt it would be on in the warmer months, anyway

Quite an odd mix. People were very nice, breakfast excellent but the room was grubby. It started getting weird at check-in - without a card to link to the room (fine to pay with Android Pay) I had to wait while they emptied the minibar. The room wasn't that easy to find (names not numbers) and after I'd waited a short period a member of staff seemed embarrassed by this theatre which was both intrusive and bizarre. The room was poorly cleaned, even a receipt from a previous guest. I definitely wouldn't rush back - it wasn't terrible but there's so much choice in Bristol, despite getting a reasonable deal.

Great hotel based right in the city centre. The Bistro is superb especially for Sunday lunch and great value at £24.95 for two courses or £29.95 for three courses. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the staff are polite, friendly, welcoming and helpful too. Would definitely recommend this hotel for an indulgent stay in the heart of the city.

Beautiful hotel in a wonderful location. A last minute trip away to bristol. The bathroom was beautiful but had a couple of temperature issues when showering where it became scalding hot and then freezing cold. The rooms were spacious very comfortable. Loved toiletries offered and the tea and coffee was to a good standard . For the price complimentary slippers would be good and toothpaste offered. However in all a very comfortable stay

What a beautiful hotel for my weekend of relaxation. Staff allowed an early check in which helped with the rain. Bedrooms warm and cozy however, words cannot describe the amazing bathroom with monsoon shower and roll top bath. Drinks out of this world. All staff were friendly and helpful. Location perfect. Treated like a princess. Will definitely return.
