   Myself and my husband where in room number 1 booked for my birthday staff lovely and welcoming food great but room was definitely not cleaned properly I have worked in hotels for many years so I know what I am looking at when I say this room also absolutely freezing radiator was not working got given a very dirty plug in radiator that would not even heat the room lots of cobwebs,dust behind TV, plastic miss matched coat hangers in wardrobe,dirt all over walls,dirty skirting boards, rubbish next to bed, chrome not polished in bathroom IE taps radiator shower door (had mold) mold under shower,dirty floor especially behind sink and pipes,shower door all water marks, cobwebs at window,very dirty loo brush (poo) poo mark on loo and wall,seal needs fixed on bath all way round doors dirty also I have photos but not sure how put on my review Reasons we did not just leave and go home was we never looked room over as went for dinner first also was first night away as a couple

   We arrived Thursday 06/11/25 for a wedding on 07/11/25 departing Saturday 08/11/25 we arrived about 2.30pm and check in was so easy and receptions very helpful I have mobility issues and when I asked if I could get assistance with my luggage up to our room it was not a problem. We had a late brunch and it was excellent the turnip soup was excellent as was the Brie cheese, my granddaughter joined us for dinner at 7pm and again all meals were excellent served piping hot I can highly recommend the Thai vegetable curry, all the staff were very attentive and polite nothing was to much bother this service continued to our departure. We were in room 7 it was large with a king size bed and a modern bathroom. I would highly recommend a stay at The Stair Arms hotel. Thanks to everyone

   Lovely stay, room was very clean and loads of supplies soap, shampoo tea coffee etc. ate at the restaurant too food was lovely and complimentary bread and dips were a nice addition, service was brilliant and staff very polite and informative. Receptionist was very polite and welcoming too, will recommend to friends and family if ever visiting as easy access into Edinburgh if travelling by car.

   Stayed for 4 nights. The room we used (room 8) was immaculate and very well presented and great lighting and a view overlooking the wooded area opposite. Food is very well presented, with some local delicacies, amazing steak, and a easy selection of beverages. Breakfast is a must! Highly recommended.

   We were here as part of a wedding party and also stayed over for the night. The staff were very helpful... including producing a gluten free and dairy free dinner and snacks for partner. The room was amazing. Can't find a fault with the Stair Arms... we will return

   The stair Arms has been here for as long as I can remember and has always been popular for weddings. The surroundings are beautiful for pictures and they do a great set up for weddings although the evening can be a bit tight on space if there is a lot of guests. Meals are offered here and are very good for a reasonable price. Definitely worth a visit if passing.

   Was at the Stair Arms for my nephew's birthday meal. We were in a separate room as we had a good amount of people with us, room was lovely. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious! Not one person had an issue with any of the food. Will definitely be back!

   Attended for a wedding. Food was mostly excellent and drink prices are pretty reasonable, certainly much better than anything in central Edinburgh. Rooms are nicely presented for their age but ours was pretty cold in October. Staff were all pretty happy to help out. Location is pretty good, right on the main road and would be a 20 minute drive to Edinburgh and positioned well for a drive to the borders. If we were not staying for the wedding the noise would have been too much so bare that in mind.
