A little late in writing this review, but boy what a meal we had there. We ordered a hot pot, Dim sums, Rice noodles, Stir fry vegetables and Chicken Rice. Every thing was cooked to perfection , the chilly oil that we got with the food, was amazing and made everything taste even better. The food was authentic and super. For sure coming back for more.

We were quite disappointed, especially given the high rating of 4.2. The food looked good, but the quality didn’t match, the chicken wasn’t fresh, and you could taste it. They ran out of plain rice and offered us fried rice instead, they did ask us first, and there was no extra charge, which we appreciated. There was a long queue at the entrance, and the staff seemed unprepared to handle the crowd. This place has potential, but they really need to use fresher ingredients and improve how they manage busy times.

I was craving Asian food and I didn’t even know it. I had braised pork belly and my mom had mapo tofu. I’m so glad i ordered the brained pork belly—I have been watching so many Korean cooking competitions recently where chefs have made this recipe so many times, and it was so great to taste it in person. The sauce was perfect, and the pork was braised so incredibly. The collagen was perfectly chewy… Another restaurant that I would recommend to people, if I knew anyone here in Edinburgh. A shame I won’t be able to eat here again.

Based on what we ordered, their Sichuan dishes are quite decent, while the rest are about more average. Dandan noodles were quite legit honestly. Stir fried gizzards were average both in spices and texture, but portion was super generous Hunan stir fried pork was not authentic, it was a generic stir fry although quite enjoyable Sanxian dumplings were surprisingly good. Filling was solid and skin has a bouncy texture. Water spinach stir fry sauce was not authentic, but the texture of the veggie was decent

My Chinese friends brought me here which is close to McEwan hall , university of Edinburgh and National museum of Scotland, I guess the dishes here might satisfy the locals’ taste. My bias is always fish so fish in chilli oil it’s simple warm and little spicy which go well with rice. The grilled sea bass is a highlight which come with big portion so it should be 2-3 people to share. Also recommended. Spicy pot is also good. Personally, for sweet and sour crispy pork or rib, they are mediocre compared to other dishes. But you can give it a shot. Walk in is possible and for tap water it’s self service in front of the counter. Worth to try more than once in my opinion.

We loved this place! The food was delicious and very authentic, we had the 水煮魚 (Sichuan spicy fish) and the 麻辣香鍋 (dry hot pot) with sesame sauce and both were excellent with reasonable prices (£15 and £19). The service was fast and workers were very nice. Cozy space, clean bathrooms — just a very positive overall experience and can’t wait to go back!

Tried Sichuan House for the first time, and it won't be our last. Spacious restaurant with friendly staff offering polite and efficient service. Menu is amazingly different in a good way. Great portions! We had booked as this is a busy place in a student and tourist area, but "walk-ins" are popular. It's very reasonably priced too.
