Food was average for the price. Maybe we went at the wrong time of day, around 3pm, but the chicken wings were dry like they had been sitting on the fryer too long and the tacos were tasty but also a bit hard to chew, so could have been fresher I guess. The bombers were very good and so were the bravas style potatoes we had.

My favourite restaurant, hands down. Delicious food, great service. They've improved the tacos since I last visited, more sauce now which is great. The wings are amazing, as are the tacos and street corn. I don't even like margaritas but their frozen margs are delicious. Highly recommend.

One of the best Mexican restaurants in Edinburgh! The place is huge and incredibly well presented. We went on a week night but I imagine it quickly fills up on the weekends. The service was so fast and our waitress was very friendly. The portion sizes were perfect and the cocktails were delicious! I’d definitely recommend ordering the bombers, pulled pork tacos and the sweet potato quesadilla :)

When you go to Scotland you don't think of Mexican food... but tacos are on the menu! Along with some tasty treats. We enjoyed pork shoulder, steak, and codd tacos! 6 tacos and two tasty adult beverages later we were satisfied and ready to get our walk on.

Taco heaven! So many choices for fillings, very tasty and good prices too. The tacos are in thick tortillas (sort of doughy) and so they're very filling. The plantain chips are great.

Enjoyed it! Service was a bit patchy... our group arrived separately in twos so we were told they'd come back to explain the menu when everyone was seated and seemed to forget. Food was quite tasty - could have had a bit more of a kick for authenticity but the flavours were good. Drinks good but cocktails were quite small. Service again patchy after we finished eating. On the whole would recommend!

A welcomed respite from your regular South American chains, El Cartel is part of a very successful group operating within Edinburgh, sporting some of the best staff in the industry, inspired menus and approach to service is fantastic. My first and certainly not last visit was memorable, the food and drinks I had were great quality, bursting with flavour, in a well tuned environment. Really enjoyable, I will certainly be returning to have a more thorough experience. Definitely recommended and book ahead, they will be sure to accommodate!
