This Chinese self-serve place is really convenient. you just choose what you want from the counter and they serve it immediately. The dishes taste home-style and comforting, with plenty of options from stir-fries to braised dishes.

Good food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. This malatang place is upstairs above the boba shop. Good variety of ingredients. The price was so good and the soup bases were delicious. Will be back for more!!

Carsserole Wang Hot Pot in Edinburgh serves one of the best Mala broths I’ve had — rich, spicy, and full of flavor. The ingredients were super fresh, especially the lotus root, tofu, and enoki mushrooms. Great portion size, friendly staff, and a wide selection to choose from. Highly recommended for any hot pot lover!

Delish!!! Fantastic hot pot style where you choose your own ingredients. If you like spicy, you might want to start with mild which is spicy enough! Ingredients were very fresh, and the soup comes to the table boiling! Highly recommend!

Was craving some hot soup in the freezing weather and this didn’t fail to deliver. Meal is based on the weight of the food you grab and it’s cooked in the broth that you want. We had both tomato based - which is really nice and sweet and the mala base - which is nice and tasty too! If you are craving for some Asian Chinese Soup, this will definitely work! Comes with free can drinks when you pay in cash too.

We had an awesome time here! Attracted by the interesting name and brightly painted building, we walked in and were guided through the unconventional process of choosing our ingredients and choosing our broth. The staff are SO nice and patient and know how to manage customers in a quick and efficient manner. and of course, the food is delicious (although it mostly will depend on what you choose yourself!)

If you’re Chinese or love Chinese hotpot/mala tang, *definitely* recommend. Authentic flavors and fresh ingredients; clean, neat environment and friendly staff. You choose your hotpot ingredients, they weigh it, and cook it for you and bring it out in a 砂锅 (casserole) with the soup base. There’s a sauce station with everything I’d usually get for my hotpot: minced garlic, coriander, scallion, sesame sauce, vinegar, soy sauce, spicy oil, etc. — but my hotpot was so flavorful I didn’t even need the sauce. I had the extra spicy hotpot soup base. More satisfying/comfort food to me than any other meal I’ve had in the UK.

The taste is average and the price is not cheap. Use leftover rice for take-out rice. I have taken many home Chinese takeaways and have never seen rice that tastes like this. This rice is definitely reheated from leftover rice from the previous day.
