Came here a year ago and was relatively decent. Visited recently for second time and was a very Poor experience. The worst starter I've ever had was the first red flag, flat bread olive and hummus until yesterday was always a safe bet, which was two burnt pitas that had even gone cold, the worse of both worlds. Little pots with chopped tomatoes that looked like a student had cooked their first ever meal and a small pot of dry hummus that wouldn't even fill a mosquitos belly. Astonishing how they had the gall to serve that. Three mains were fine but my partners roast was despicable, dull potatoes that looked and tasted exactly like one day old reheated roast potatoes and an odd side dish with lifeless veg that looked like a medley bag from iceland. Such a bizarre experience. Call me sentimental but the beautiful area of marshfield deserves better than this. No way would I go back. Finally The non discreet, indirect manner in which we were asked to tip was a kick in the teeth also. Not classy. Do not come here.

I have had Sunday lunch here many times and have always rated it as one of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had. Unfortunately this wasn’t so today. The portions were small and food wasn’t hot. We were asked if we wanted any extras such as cauliflower cheese! This was always included in the past as were extra Yorkshire puddings. Sadly, we also won’t be returning

I've eaten here before many years ago and it was great. Sunday roast was good to ok. The small plate of vegetables to share between 4 people was an insult and I had to kindly ask for more. How anyone can think a single side plate of vegetables is enough is beyond me. On top of this having to wait 30 minutes after the desert menu was given is unacceptable. We ran out of time and left without dessert. Sadly I won't be returning. I had high expectations

Brought my Dad here for a weekday lunch. The quality of the food and the service was outstanding. Most delicious homemade meat pies. The cheesecake dessert was divine.

Good service and a lovely location. My problem was with the food... We went for a Sunday roast and this is another one of those pubs that thinks it's acceptable to serve shared vegetable plates (where they essentially serve half as much vegetables as they would otherwise). This would be acceptable if the portions remained the same...but they often don't. We were served one plate of vegetables to share between three people. This included TWO broccoli florets and TWO cauliflower florets which sadly don't divide equally between THREE people. Given they charge Β£18 for a few slices of beef, average potatoes and this cheap, penny-pinching portioning of vegetables, it's just sad and not worth the money. Go elsewhere.

Stopped off for a pub lunch in what is a beautiful village. Really good pub food, priced realistically. Great fish and chips, ham-egg and chips, Lasagne etc. Priced around the Β£12-15 mark. Definitely recommend

What a wonderful little pub! Arranged to meet my dad after a visit to Bath and just googled for a convenient place that was dog friendly. The beer was superb (a lovely light pale ale) and the food was terrific (very generous portions). Service was friendly and helpful. The decor is clean and modern without feeling unfriendly. Our dog was made very comfortable and we enjoyed a very lazy lunch. Top notch in every respect, it will become a regular haunt now we've discovered it.

My partner and I ate here for the Sunday roast this past weekend and got violently ill six hour after our meal and we are very confident it has to do with what we had for lunch. We suspect that the fact that the roasts have to be made in such large quantities that perhaps a mistake was made in the temperature checks which resulted in us getting a bad batch. My partner even noted upon eating his first bite that his pork did not feel warm. On top of this, the food was incredibly bland and disappointing. It is now Wednesday and we are still physically recovering from this horrible experience. The only glimmer in this otherwise dark experience was the kind staff.

Friendly cozy local pub! Perfect for a dinner meal, with varied menu. Beef Burger was large portion but the bun was dry. Sticky toffee pudding was incredible including Salted caramel ice cream! If you’re in the area, it’s a must go.

The atmosphere in the pub was really nice and the food tasted great. Good value as well. The menu could definitely have been clearer. The spinach and mushroom pancake comes with chips and salad and the mushroom, sage and nut roast comes with a side of veg and chips as well! Meant that we ordered a side of cheesy chips we didn’t need.
