Pretty gutted to be writing this review. I'm going through enough with a very prem baby in NICU. So as you can imagine, it's a very stressful and upsetting time. Last weeks, upon ordering a large amount of food and drinks for my family of 5, I used my two vouchers for myself and my husband and had to pay the remaining balance on my card, unknown to me, my bank had blocked my account due to a suspicious activity. As this is a joint account they had blocked my husbands card and my single account as well. I'm stood in the queue in a state of panic. One member of staff managed to sort out putting the bill on a receipt with the promise I'd pay as soon as I could (i paid the bill the following day). Another member of staff, had a very bad attitude towards me. Almost like she thought I liked the embarrassment of being shown up in front of a lot of customers at the till. Yesterday morning a new bank card arrived and i took it to a cash point before coming to the hospital. So i knew i had a fully working bank card. Last night, I went to get food from the Landsdown again, again with a voucher from NICU. What I ordered came to £1.69 over the value of the voucher. My bank card declined (3 times) and was then blocked. I was shaking. The member of staff who displayed bad attitude towards me was serving me and she looked me up and down and said it was convenient it had happened in the week prior and she just walked off and ignored me literally left me just stood there. I'm stood at the till like an absolute lemon, she hadn't even explained to her colleagues what had happened, so I then had to explain again. In the end a customer behind me was so fed up she paid the £1.69. I have never felt so humiliated. I was extremely grateful to the woman. Then all I heard was "I'm not paying for anyone else's food" and then a mass of laughter. This morning, I went to the lansdown for breakfast (with voucher) because no one had told me there was completely free food available elsewhere. And the same member of staff was on duty. She just looked at me and said you're card working now is it. As if I'd done this on purpose. I won't be going back there again to eat. I won't be made to feel like a laughing stock when I have enough going on. If I hadn't paid the first amount I owe back, then I could understand it but I did. This is a hospital, compassion wouldn't go amiss.

Atrium Cafe: The atmosphere was totally ruined on the day I was there, by a young lad - presumably in a management capacity - coming in to the cafe and shouting at the staff. They were visibly upset. It is not what I'd expect in a hospital environment, where people are often feeling sensitive or vulnerable, and just want a quiet lunch/drink/whatever. I just hope the staff were OK, and the lad, clearly in a position of authority, can learn to manage his anger, and resolve issues quietly, as a manager should do.

Very tasty food. Would love to know the recipes for the salads they provide. My daughter was very happy with her wrap, After having vending machine wraps in the past which were awfully soggy and tasteless my little girl had a full tummy after eating the restaurants food.

Restaurant located within the hospital. Poor opening hours for staff who work shifts but ok for visitors and day staff. Good selection of hot and cold food but beware the selection is very limited at the end of the day. Free drinking water available. You can also bring your own boxes for food to be placed into which is a good idea. Staff always helpful.
