The food was genuinely very good. We had both a starter and a main and really enjoyed them. However, the dessert was a big disappointment. We ordered the Burnt Basque cheesecake, but it wasn’t sweet at all. It honestly tasted like eating a block of plain cheese, with no sweetness whatsoever. Aside from that, the atmosphere is lovely and the place is dog friendly, which we really appreciated. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the savoury food was great. But if you are thinking of ordering the cheesecake, I’d think twice.

Excellent food and attentive service. Each dish was fresh, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented, with portions that felt generous without being overwhelming. The staff was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable about the menu, offering helpful recommendations and checking in at the right moments. The restaurant maintained a clean and comfortable atmosphere, creating a relaxed dining experience. A standout choice for anyone looking for quality dining and professional service.

Pleasant pub/restaurant in the historic part of Bath. The room we sat in was informal and cozy. Service was attentive and helpful. The food was all good, but nothing memorable. The flavors and quality was evident, but nothing that stood out or felt inventive. Good place for a nice pleasant bite.

Fabulous pub with very high quality food and service. Aston and his lady assistant are fantastic hosts, so are the others they all make you so welcome. Food is first class in fact so good we went back a few days later and they remembered our names and what we ate!

This is my favourite place that I’ve ever visited during my short time at UK. So glad that I could come to try out their “Sunday Roast”! You can never get this kind of food back in Malaysia. If you ever drop by the UK on a Sunday possibly after church, then you want to be here! Special thanks to their warm service making my family feeling very warm welcome.

We had a lovely dinner at The Chequers. I ordered the heritage tomato with pumpkin pesto and torched mozzarella as my starter and for my main course I had the pan seared fillet of hake, which was delicious. The sticky toffee pudding was the perfect end to our meal. Our bill for two people came to 100 pounds. I will recommend this restaurant to all my friends visiting Bath.

Best Sunday Roast in Bath! My husband got the beef and the meat melted in your mouth... I had the pork and was incredible, the meat was super tender and the crackling... wooow. Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection. The dessert was super tasty and beautifully plated. Every member of the staff was really helpful and attentive. Really good experience, recommended 100%. We will come back soon.

Amazing food. Great execution on duck (perfectly cooked). Burger and fries also very well done. The only slight downside is any spirit cocktails which are not listed on their menu (wrong ingredients and proportions). Overall would come back for food

The pub recently changed hands and pleased to say the place has retained its character and charm. Had two roasts, both meats cooked to perfection, especially the beef, and the yorkshire puddings were probably some of the best we’ve had. Service was friendly and attentive. Parking is limited in the surrounding areas so arriving in car can be tricky. However, it’s very accessible by foot even from the city centre. Would definitely recommend as a place to go for a Sunday roast.
