Friendly staff and good service. "Seasonal Salad" ... cucumber, lettuce and tomato ?? definitely not Seasonal in December. Otherwise we had a tasty lunch.

I would like to give feedback on an evening Christmas meal we had at the Ship Inn, Alveston on Friday 5th December for Thornbury Allotment Association. This was our first time at the Ship Inn. Vicki was most helpful and patient with me dealing with the orders on the portal. The room was presented well, very festive and warm, we were looked after during the evening by Jan and her helpers Jay and Dan. Nothing was too much trouble for Jan during the evening. The meal was very good, if I were to comment, the vegetables, carrots and parsnips were very large and a bit hard, and a sauce or two was missing. Feedback from my members is very positive and I look forward to further bookings at the Ship Inn. Please thank the staff they made our evening,

It was perfect. The party of 11 people were all seated together in a lovely private area. They allowed us to put up decorations for my 70 th birthday celebration. I think we all had different meals, but they came out together and we're all piping hot. I had the belly pork and it was simply delicious, I definitely need the recipe for the gravy! The staff were attentive but not pushy. It was a really lovely occasion made even more special by the staff and the food . Well done to you all.

11 of us ate here to celebrate a 30th birthday. We were offered and accepted to sit in a cozy side area and were allowed (using blue tac) to put up decorations. The tables were all placed together & covered with white table cloths & to add an extra special touch. We had numerous different meals, Cod & chips, Gammon, steak pie, sea bass & prawn risotto, burgers, chicken breast . All were served piping hot and all meals brought out at the same time. Everyone was impressed with the quality of the food and just how good it all tasted and was presented. Desserts were delicious, my favorite was definitely the salted caramel Sundae, but the pies and ice cream looked amazing, and the warm chocolate brownie smelt so good I almost ordered one of those as well. We were not rushed or continually bothered, but checked on every now and then to make sure all was ok and if we needed anything else. Excellent food, Superb service, relaxed atmosphere and good family/friends, it could not have been better. We will definitely be back very soon.

The food wer nice, big portions, made well, can't fault it at all. The service, however, was very slow and inattentive, constantly having to wave staff down as if they'd forgotten you exist. I did ask for some sauces, when our meals arrived and they never came back with any. Why don't these places, not just here but everywhere, not just have bottles of ketchup on the tables, is it too much to ask?

Odd place to review as it’s better than the majority of “pubs” that you find attached to a hotel, but falls short of being a proper gastro pub that it aspires to be. The Sunday roast was ample & tasty, just what it should be. Facilities was very clean & staff was very helpful. It did feel like they were short staffed at times, this resulted in longer wait times & some small details missed when food was brought to the table.

I held a big party at The Ship Inn, with 70 guests (30 of which were young kids!) and it all went beautifully smoothly! I hired one of their rooms and had a great experience in the lead up to the party with their events manager. We sent a pre-order for our food - which wasn’t straightforward with families wanting their meals at different times. The food service was excellent and the food was delicious. I’ve had so many guests commenting on how good the food was. One guest ended up arriving later than the time they’d requested their food for and the kitchen happily accommodated them at the time they arrived. I had a live band in the evening and it was a great venue for that, and a dance floor was provided. All the staff were friendly and accommodating. Some of my party guests stayed at the Premier Inn and a number of us came for brekkie the following morning. The breakfast wasn’t a disappointment either! So so pleased with how the party went and I am so thankful for everyone involved. One request: please fix the outside lights for the private garden.

I enjoyed a splendid father's day eve treat here with my son & his partner. Nice decor and comfortable furniture, good service from efficient & friendly staff. We simply chose several of the starters, and shared them as a tapas style meal. Absolutely delicious!

Really poor. The Premier Inn next door is extremely dated. Most of the tables in the Ship Inn restaurant were free in the evening, but we're told there was an hour wait to order. Numerous people were advised of this on arrival and decided to go elsewhere. The restaurant manager spent most of her time outside smoking. For some reason I can't respond to the reply the Ship Inn given to the above. I did dine in the restaurant. The food was lovely, yet overpriced for similar standard you would expect in a Wetherspoon, which we all enjoy for a great price. My opinion, and review, of the restaurant manager remains the same, as potential customers arriving asking for tables decided to look elsewhere, feeling like a hindrance while a 30+ party took precedence.
