I was in on Saturday 01/11/2025. We each had a haddock gujon sandwich, which cost £10.75 each. The haddock was lovely, but the bread was stale. There was was no baby gem with the salad. Just a few wilted rocket leaves, some watercress, and two tiny chunks of watermelon. I've eaten there before, and the food was good. But this time it was disappointing. The only reason I've given three stars is because the haddock and the beer were good.

We had lunch at Shakespeare and it was a pleasant experience. The service was welcoming and the atmosphere really nice, perfect for a relaxed break in the city. The food was good – maybe not unforgettable – but definitely enjoyable. Overall, a solid place to stop for lunch in Edinburgh (and yes, we even joked about it being the Scottish cousin of Britney …)

I had an incredible experience at this place. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish bursting with flavor and creativity. The drinks were even more impressive, especially the specially crafted beers, which were unique and perfectly paired with the meal. But what really stood out was the amazing staff. They were friendly, attentive, and made the whole dining experience feel extra special. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for great food, fantastic drinks, and top-notch service!

I was staying in Edinburgh for a concert so I randomly chose the Shakespeare for my lunch. There was a convivial atmosphere and a good choice of food and drinks. They had Beavertown Neck Oil, one of my favourite drinks, on tap. The staff were very friendly and prices were reasonable given it's central location. There was a good selection of tapas style plates available so I chose Battered Halloumi, Haggis Fritters with Whisky Sauce and Karaage Sticky Chicken. They were all delicious with the Karaage Sticky Chicken a moreish highlight. I would definitely revisit.

We found this pub across the street from Sheraton where we were staying. Nice inside, all of our food was delicious and fortunately an “uncrowded” night. Concert hall right next door, so I’ll bet it gets jammed on occasion.

We've been here a couple times during our vacation. Everytime the ambiance was nice and relaxed. Staff was very friendly. On the tv screens you can watch football and also you can watch F1 race on request. The beer and ciders are great with very tasty snacks like nachos, sharing chicken bites and more. Nice place to be.

This was a great find, I hadn't planned on coming in here but I am happy I did because it was brilliant. Great selection of beer on draught and cask! Food menu looked fab! And staff was very friendly. Bathrooms were spacious and clean. Loved it!

We were looking for a comfortable pub with a relaxing atmosphere, good “bar” food and robust beer selection and this was the perfect place for us. The service was good and the staff friendly.

Stopped here to try to watch some sport and enjoy a quick pint. Unfortunately the 3 beers I wanted to try were all out. Staff were friendly but seemed new and inexperienced

We tried Big Fish & Chips, it was very large and i couldn't even finish 1 piece. It tasted good but not the best. Also we tried the half roasted chicken. It was also not the best as the chicken was not juicy. Need to be a bit marinated. But the place looked good. Staff were friendly somehow.
