   Lovely starters husband had a delicious steak..desserts were awesome..however what happened to the order of steak pie..I was served an awful stew with two little rounds of puff pastry, which had clearly not been cooked with the meat was utterly revolting and did not constitute a steak pie ..utterly disappointed...everything else was great but my meal was appalling. Won't be back!

   Popular centrepoint for the large rural area round about, and well-known even in the town of Livingstone some distance away. About half a dozen draught beers including Asahi and Belhaven Best. Large menu of upmarket pub favourites, fairly typical of a country inn. Service is acceptably brisk and efficient. Livingstone Inn is an enormous building, and has a large bar area with a choice of wooden chairs or sofa seats to sink into. Unobtrusive soft rock in the background, Black Velvet style. The addition of bedrooms could make it ideal for exploring the myriad and splendid countryside walks (and cycle paths) with forests gorges and the heritage centre a short walk away (waitress said all the rooms are contract and not available to the public — yet I found some on the popular booking site.) Kitchen and bar is from midday to mid-evening. The adjacent ‘village’ comprises the Inn, a trendy barbershop with a beauty salon on one side and a cafe on the other. That’s it. (Though apparently there’s also a post-office somewhere.) I went for lunch, mid-week. I was more than satisfied with what I felt was an above-average chicken & bacon salad. Minor criticism is that the staff seemed a bit rushed off their feet, even with just a handful of customers.

   Family lunch at a weekend. Menu is very large therefore not much is cooked on site. Nothing fresh, seasonal or local. Too typical of poor Scottish pub cuisine. Very cheerful staff however. My steak pie was very bland.

   Lovely local pub with a good beer garden and some nice walks around. The small lounge is dog friendly and has a few screens for sports. The restaurant serves nice food and is worth a visit, anyone looking for a good pub will be happy they went.

   We had a wonderful first experience here on a cold winters night. The restaurant is very warm and welcoming and very well decorated. Staff were super friendly and accommodating. We ordered the haddock and chips which was absolutely delicious! Batter was light and crispy and came with a generous portion of chips. I had the chocolate fudge cake with pouring cream for dessert which was absolutely scrumptious, and again, a generous portion size! Would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

   Popped in here by chance following a day out with the kids and it turned out to be great. Very child-friendly, with a really well-priced kids section. Good menu selection for adults too, and the food arrived quickly and was hot. The pub was nicely decked out, with plenty of parking too. Our server, Mhairi, was brilliant; went out of her way to make us and the kids feel welcome, good level of friendly chat, really attentive service and then, when we were leaving, ran out to the car park to return something we'd left on the table. Excellent customer service. Would definitely go back.

   A very disappointing experience unfortunately. I was staying locally and chose this place based off the reviews and the fact it was dog friendly. That was where the positives ended… We ordered 3 different meals which were all poor quality! The pie was not a pie at all, more of a stew with a pastry lid plonked on top served alongside some frozen veg… The gammon egg and chips was served with the cheapest gammon round that could be found (full of grit and fat) rock solid and very tasteless. The bacon cheeseburger was over cooked, dry and tasted like chewing on a bowl of cheerio’s… I’d certainly raise question to the authenticity of the reviews of this establishment. A bad day for the chef maybe? Unlikely I’d say. It’s a no from me, I’d give this place a wide birth if I was you.
