Booked Gaucho for an early birthday dinner for my partner whilst visiting Edinburgh. Service was brilliant from the start, and our waitress was so attentive. We ordered from the festive set menu and each course was brought out so quickly. And, most importantly, the food was absolutely stunning! Couldn’t fault any part of our experience. Thank you.

It was the absolute best place to spend my birthday dinner. The hostesses were the most welcoming, my server was always making sure I had everything and gave me a brief rundown of the drinks menu. The meal was served fairly fast so I never had to wait for too long. I had the chimichurri ribeye (10 stars if I could!!!) with fries and Mac and cheese. And for my starter, the cheese and truffle croquettes. They also gave me a complimentary cheesecake for my birthday and it was the perfect dessert. Honestly I cannot compliment them enough but I will 100% be going back and telling everyone. Thank you!

This was my family’s one nice dinner out during our vacation to Scotland and heard excellent things about this place - exceptional food and service among them. Was underwhelmed on most accounts. Did love the restaurant when we first arrived - lush and cozy inside for sure but louder than expected. To our servers credit it did seem like we were sat during a busy time but service was very slow, waited at least 10-15 minutes from our servers intro for him to even pop by the table again - had to flag someone else down to ask to take our order. The service wasn’t very personable as a result throughout the duration of the meal. I ordered a steak with sautéed spinach and mentioned I couldn’t do the chimichurri because of the heat of the chilis - so I was surprised when the spinach arrived and I bit into it and was met with a mouthful of chili and spices. I certainly should have clarified what was the spinach cooked with - but also the waiter should have had some foresight when I mentioned the no chimchurri to give me a heads up about the spinach. My filet was cooked very well however was certainly chewier than I expected. Again for a 68 pound steak it was very underwhelming. My family did enjoy their roast dinner. Reading all the amazing reviews and having heard all the amazing things about this place - disappointed it did not come close to the expectations. Wouldn’t really recommend or go back after this experience.

This place is incredible!! The food was reasonable for a high end product and atmosphere. From the moment we entered the staff were very kind and helpful, asking us about our day, and offering to take our coats. Moments like this made it better than better. The food and drinks menus were both detailed which made it perfect for an overthinker like myself for picking the perfect drink. The food menu was the same, and described exactly what you will get. My partner and I shared the chateaubriand which was a perfect serving for us (with the extra sides) the beef melted in our mouths, and the sauces were amazing, I’d especially recommend the Malbec and bone marrow jus, it was an excellent extra for the beef. Sides were perfect, the broccoli tasted Smokey and cooked perfectly to be soft with a small crunch, the spinach was refreshing and lemony, the mushrooms were peppery and were a larger portion, and the chips were lovely and crispy with a fluffy inside. The staff were great, so attentive and helpful with our questions and chit chat. I couldn’t recommend this place more, for a high end meal with a better price tag than some steakhouses. Amazing!!

Had a spectacular visit to Gaucho for my Birthday with my partner. The service from Viola was phenomenal, absolutely delightful host who paid close attention to us and was very helpful with wine and drink selection and making sure we were well looked after. Bringing me a complementary dram of whisky in place of a dessert (since I didn’t have any more room) was a lovely gesture and well appreciated. The only room for improvement would have been on my steak, which I felt a little bit underwhelming in terms of flavour - I ordered one of the marinated steaks and thought it would be a bit more flavourful. That said, my partner ordered the plain ribeye which was definitely delicious. Thanks to Viola and the rest of the team for a lovely evening.

We went to Gaucho today for a Sunday roast, while visiting Edinburgh on a trip. I don’t know where the great roast places are in Edinburgh (to compare) but my wife and I do enjoy finding the best roasts around where we live. Anyway, this was a *very* good roast. The beef rib was exceptional, the gravy was rich, the Yorkshire pudding was large and right consistency, and cauliflower cheese was crispy on top and cheesy. I’d have liked a bit more vegetables (cabbage?), but that’s a minor thing. My wife and I both give this roast 5 stars.

Called in after visiting the disappointing Christmas Market. Was looking for a restaurant that would accommodate a small dog, and so after a short walk arrived. Was warmly greeted by the young lady on the reservations. The dining area is well presented, and the waiter was extremely attentive with a bowl of water for my four-legged companion before explaining about all the cuts of meat they can offer. The food was fantastic, steaks cooked to perfection with sauces that complimented and enhanced the flavour, and worth every penny, as was the cocktails. I highly recommend a visit. I doubt you'll be disappointed. Look forward to our next visit.

My, oh my. I think many restaurants could learn from Gaucho chefs. The fillet steak was absolutely perfect. The service was flawless, the atmosphere and ambient was very intimate and relaxing. The toppings as well as the sides were a great addition. Fantastic wine card, mouthwatering starters… definitely a must try!

Wonderful food, wonderful services from start to finish. The server had given a comprehensive introduction of the meat cut and the menu, so that I could order exactly what I fancied that evening. The steak tartare had the exact ratio of fat for my liking. The sirloin steak turned out to be a beautiful pair of wings to look at. This had been something extraordinary to expect going to a steak house. Dessert was a bit too big for me, but tasted great with so many different textures of chocolate in one plate.

Went to gaucho to celebrate our brother's birthday, Great ambiance, elegant from the moment you walk in. We were met by a lovely lady at front house who was polite chatted away while we waited to be taken downstairs to our table. The service from our waitress was 10/10, she was super friendly & had a really good knowledge of the menu. Requested halal steak beforehand which was just amazing. The food & drinks were great from the bread to the starters to the mains, everything was just perfect. Highly recommend Gaucho!!!
