   We spent an evening at the bar and restaurant (did not stay at the hotel), and overall had a very enjoyable experience. The place is lovely — clean, cozy, and tastefully decorated. The food was excellent: flavorful, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. A special mention goes to the young lady who was serving in the restaurant — she was incredibly kind, attentive, and professional. Her friendly attitude really made us feel welcome. The gentleman behind the bar was also very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, one staff member — a blonde, middle-aged lady — was extremely rude and dismissive toward us. It felt like she didn’t want us there, which made parts of the evening uncomfortable and awkward. Despite this, the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the kindness of the other staff members made up for it. With more consistent hospitality, this could easily be a 5-star experience.

   We stayed at this delightful hotel for just a few days and will return again. Breakfast was great and so was dinner. It’s centrally located in the town so you can walk to many places. There is just one concern we had: all rooms are one to two flights up with no elevator.

   My husband and I loved our time at The Close Hotel in Tetbury! It was stunningly beautiful and wonderfully quaint. The restaurant at the hotel was amazing. Every meal we had was delicious and the service was excellent. We enjoyed tea time every afternoon with warm scones, a beautiful view, and a good book. The town of Tetbury was also lovely with lots of antique stores to stroll through, local bakeries, fun gift shops, great restaurants, and more! Tetbury was not super touristy, which was very nice and it was easy to get to other villages to explore. We will definitely be back!!

   Probably the best hotel experience I’ve ever had (and I travel a lot!) Myself & my sister took our Gran here for a trip (following losing our grandad) and wanted it to be really special & it literally went above and beyond any of our expectations. The staff seemed genuinely happy to be there and nothing was too much for them. The property itself is beautiful, it’s situated in the main area of Tetbury and easy to walk to everything. Once you walk through the building it has beautiful large gardens with deckchairs and a water fountain, where we spent the afternoon relaxing after exploring. All the wait staff were checking if we needed anything (without being annoying)! We also ate dinner there that night and the restaurant again was amazing! Our server was so helpful and offered recommendations and was chatty - the decor is also so nice and I loved the dog themed art work that was displayed around the hotel. The room and bed was also amazing - the bed was insanely comfy and the bathroom decor was soooo nice! The shower was easy to use (my 94 year old gran even said she found it easy!) the breakfast the next morning was delicious too! There’s a buffet of cold items and then also you can order hot things too! The manager (I think it was) was such a nice man and he went out of his way to help us when we needed a taxi to highgrove. I cannot thank the staff enough or recommend this hotel enough! Thank you!!!

   Popped in for lunch and had the most delicious meal in the gardens behind the hotel. Incredible attention to detail with the personal service and presentation of food. Highly recommend if you are in Tetbury, a real hidden gem on the high street. Will definitely be back for the fish and chip supper and any other events they are having. Thanks to the Saturday lunch time wait staff, they were simply excellent.

   We used to go regularly and always enjoyed the close. A bad experience put us off for a year but we decided to give it another go. New staff but still efficient and polite. We had a quiet table which isn't easy there. Food was nicely prepared but heavily rationed. It isn't a good sign when you're desperate to get out and walk up the road and go into another place to top up.

   Stayed here for 2 nights for a local wedding. Such a lovely hotel, beautiful building and tastefully decorated. Receptionist was excellent, nothing was too much trouble. Room was clean with great coffee and tea facilities, and also lovely bath products. Breakfast had good options, with very good quality ingredients.

   I absolutely love this hotel, we first visited in November 22 & have already booked to go back in December. We were welcomed by a roaring fire & a beautifully decorated Christmas tree In the reception. The staff service was excellent, as was the decor & food in the restaurant. The building dates back to 15th century, so lots of character. Amazing vegan breakfast over looking the well manicured garden. We drank homemade mulled wine in the library with another roaring log fire. I can’t wait to come back for afternoon tea in the summer. I can honestly say it’s one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in.

   Great mid-week stay in between business trips to spend some time with my other half. Appreciated the proactive phone call from reception early evening to check if we'd like to book a table for dinner as we were not due to arrive and check in until about 8pm. Fabulous excellent value fish and chips deal on a Wednesday night which was extremely popular both with residents at the hotel and locals. The bar bill was incorrect on checking out but this was sorted immediately and not a problem. Booked a basic room as that was all that was available but this was still very nice. I would return and treat ourselves to one of the superior rooms which I presume overlook the gardens at the rear.

   We visited The Close for dinner while on our honeymoon in the UK. Based upon a local resident's recommendation, we took in the Tuesday fish & chips special. They were right. The meal and the deal were both very good. The service was attentive and courteous, and the environment was tidy and clean. The host was engaging and helpful for a couple of Americans visiting from across the pond. We went back again the next night for dessert and a nightcap. Worth the trip.
