Hotels like the Wye Valley Hotel are a rare find nowadays. Sue, Barry and Grace are among the loveliest hosts I’ve ever met. Don’t expect boutique hotel pretensions and fancy rooms: this is good old fashioned hospitality in the truest sense, and great value. The beds are comfy, the shower’s got power, there’s plenty of parking, the Wye Valley ale is kept like nectar. The walking trails start opposite the hotel. We also got a bus (from right outside) to Monmouth and walked the 12 miles back. A fab day out. And it’s true: Sue’s fish and chips is divine. As are the pies. And the broccoli and Stilton soup! All in all every bit my idea of a perfect weekend enjoying the UK at its best.

My husband and I spent a very pleasant few nights at the Wye Valley Hotel as we were attending a wedding in the locality. We received a warm welcome from Barry and Sue and their staff. The room was very comfortable and clean. There was an excellent breakfast and the evening meals were very good. A superb selection of gluten free food. There was a relaxed atmosphere in the bar in the evening. The hotel is ideally placed to enjoy the walks and countryside of Tintern. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the area. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Delicious breakfast in this fabulous inn. The rooms are compact and the road noise can be problematic with the window open but the hotel is well situated in Tintern. The sun has shined and the walks have been magical.

My partner and I booked a stay here in September 2024 for his birthday weekend. From the initial phone call I was impressed with how accommodating they were. I have various dietary needs and usually going away anywhere is quite stressful, however the staff here put my mind at ease immediately. They had multiple options for me to eat at breakfast and the evening meal we had was delicious! In hindsight we should have eaten here on both evenings as the food is amazing! The room was lovely, warm, clean and nicely decorated. The hotel location is perfect for walking through Tintern itself and equally for a short drive to Chepstow. The staff were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Grace was very attentive, always checking in to reassure me about my food choices and to check that we were happy with everything. We would love to stay here again, perhaps with more time to explore further afield this time!

Its our second stay in this beautiful pub, proper old pub not many around anymore. Sue, Barry, Grace and the rest of the staff are absolutely lovely lovely people very warm welcoming and just lush all around, Sue’s food is just proper amazing home cooked food, her pies are to die for! Rooms are clean and super comfortable. 10/10 for everything, can’t wait to go back in the winter for a cozy drink and amazing food..

The reception area and stairs/corridor initial strike you as slightly old fashioned. But the room fittings and furniture are more modern and fully functional - for example a large walk-in shower in our room. The bar area is a 'proper pub', and the dining room/lounge are spacious and nicely decorated/furnished. The breakfast was very good (the best scrambled eggs I've had in years) and we chose to eat in for dinner both nights. Good selection of drinks including local beers. Service was very welcoming and friendly, so we felt relaxed and at home. The location, and the hotel's setting within it, is beautiful. Although on a main road, it wasn't noisy overnight and we were able to have the room windows open as a result. Recommended

Lovely clean, light, bright room, lots of windows & 2 arm chairs. We had a shower & a bath. The bed & pillows were also very comfy. Excellent breakfasts each morning with tasty sausages & thick bacon.

Very pleasant 2 night stay. The staff were friendly, the establishment was COVID safe and it was clean and well presented. We ate breakfast and our evening meal here and were very impressed. The chips were delicious and the desserts made us happy on the inside. TV and tea making kit in the room, a small but functional bathroom and a reasonably sized bed. It was easy to find, lots of parking spaces and just a short walk from Tintern Abbey. Would absolutely stay here again.
