Heard lots of good things about this place before visiting. Booked dinner for a group of 9 at 8.30 on a Saturday night. Given the group size, we contacted the restaurant beforehand to enquire whether it would be helpful if we pre ordered. Once at the restaurant and before ordering we checked whether everything on the menu was available and we were told it was, which was great particularly given it’s a fairly small menu. However once we went to place our orders, we were informed that they had run out of the jerk chicken which was disappointing. Most of the group then opted for the curry goat but again a short while after ordering were informed there wasn’t enough for everyone. It was after 9pm when we placed our orders for the mains but given that the menu is so small with limited options, it was disappointing to hear that there wasn’t enough food to accommodate orders. We were able to order plenty of starters which all tasted pretty good, particularly the oxtail croquettes and salt fish fritters. Those in the group that were able to try the curry goat also enjoyed that. But others who were left with chicken burgers were very underwhelmed. Staff were all really friendly, tried to be accommodating where they could and also apologetic so cant fault the service. They also made the effort to make up for the situation with some complimentary drinks. Overall, a cool little restaurant with some interesting takes on Caribbean dishes. Majority of what we ate tasted pretty good but just disappointing that the restaurant was unable to fulfil a limited offering menu. Advice would be to not make a late booking if you want all options to be available!

My second time in dining here and it was better than the first. The first occasion, my friend and I had a few bites- chicken wings, chips, and the oxtail croquettes (delicious). We returned last Sunday for the Sunday roast and I have to say it was one of my favourite roasts I have had-apart from my own of course! The rum punch cocktail, was perfect and had a little punch to it. Both my friend and I opted for the leg of lamb roast which was perfect along with 2 sides, macaroni/cheese and plantain. Definitely worth the price and I will be returning with others to try.

Went for a Sunday roast - had the lamb (pictured), a side of Mac and cheese and oxtail croquettes. Everything was DELICIOUS. The portion was large and they weren't shy with the gravy. I'll have to be back to try the weekday menu.

Came for the cheap Thursday menu. Staff were super attentive. Food came out fast staggered and hot which was perfect. Incredible flavours, pork belly, curried coat and Guinness Punch are a must.

Ibby thank you for your excellent service and looking after our table of 3! The portion sizes were spot on and the taste was delicious! We all ordered the lamb roast and my girls couldn’t get enough of the mint sauce! If I had to be picky, maybe better cocktail offerings would be amazing. Other than that, I’ll be back! Thank you and the lovely lady that served us the bill x

DISAPPOINTMENT! I had such high hopes. I have eaten at so many places. This is not a place to go to, maybe if you are someone who doesn't have an experienced tongue pallet, you might enjoy it. My meal consisted of; Crispy Squid, Oxtail Croquettes, Saltfish fritters, Plantain and the infamous Roast; lamb My friend had the same including the poor macaroni and cheese and 2 rum cocktails The crispy squid was the highlight of my whole meal, I did not travel down to Deptford for SQUID! The oxtail croquettes were nice. The fritters were more batter than saltfish. The sauce that it comes with was tasty, it saved the dishes. I had that sauce and the plantain with everything, it "complimented" and saved the starters. And the reason why I came down to Buster Mantis; the roast, which was RECOMMENDED by the waitress! The Yorkshire pudding was burnt, the vegetables were hard, and the lamb was decent. But what made me sick, was the rice was SWIMMING in the dark gravy. I have NEVER seen something like that before in my life, I could not eat my food, and I could not even complain I was that mortified. There was more gravy than rice. what would possess you guys to present that to people? Visiting many restaurants and food stalls I critique the food and I speak to managers/owners but I was too embarrassed to even speak to the waiter. I went to the toilet and told my friend to tell them to remove it. I wish I took a video so others can truly see the mess. I ordered such a big meal and left HUNGRY! I WOULD NEVER COME HERE AGAIN! I would have been more satisfied going to Mcdonald's and saving my money. If you are the Black Caribbean, African or Asian do not come here. Black/White British/European ENJOY!

Absolutely amazing Sunday roast! Great sides, and generous portions. I especially loved the Ox tail croquettes. Honestly could not fault the food at all. The service was also amazing, the floor staff makes you feel immediately welcome. One member of staff in particular, couldn’t get her name, was really good at making customers feel comfortable, she had a real β€œfamiliar” approach to her service which was lovely to see with other tables, as well as ours, left this restaurant very satisfied and will definitely be back! 10 stars.

Had a lovely roast experience here recently. The staff were so welcoming and the food portions were pretty generous (especially the discounted kids meal). I had the lamb roast which was delicious though it could've been much hotter. The veg and rice were nice but the potatoes weren't great, way over roasted and not much flavour. The plantain however was done to perfection! Overall I enjoyed my meal and I'm likely to return and recommend to others. The only real downside was that the tap water provided was absolutely vile. Immediately after drinking some, my mum felt extremely unwell and had to run to the bathroom. Ultimately, she couldn't enjoy her meal. We tried to order bottled instead but it seems they don't sell this. Lovely for the environment but definitely a flaw. Next time I'll be bringing my own bottled water.

Went with my little sister for the Sunday roast, after seeing a lovely ladies TikTok recommendation. The oxtail croquettes were a hit for me also the waitresses were friendly and polite. As stated on their website they are not offering a Jamaican Sunday roast but a fusion of Jamaican and British flavours, and that’s what you get taste wise.
